Okay I did a search and I didn't find any topics like this. This thread is about those local bands in your hometown that haven't gotten known yet (all genres are welcome). And please don't just list the bands. Give us a link to a website, or to some mp3s if it's possible and let's have a discussion here. This is a good way to discover new and unknown bands. I'll start. I'm from Regina SK, Canada and of course Into Eternity is the best band from here IMO. However we do have a few other good bands. One is "Itchy Stitches" which is a death/thrash metal band(???) with a female lead vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/itchystitches. The Orchard is another band and they are probably the biggest local band here (except for Into Eternity). I've seen them live twice before and they put on a pretty good show. You can hear a couple of their tracks on their myspace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=65073383 The last band that I can think of for the moment is a pagan black metal band called "Wold". Their music has some noise/industrial elements and they are rather interesting. Their official site is here:http://wold.cjb.net/

Sremska Kamenica - Serbia... haha, there is only one band in my hometown... mine We are playing Black Metal and we will release our first album in April, probably for some Serbian label... heh. It will be first record from any band from my home place, but since I live in the forest village with 600 people it is not too strange, and what is strange altough we are playing loud music with scream vocals, no one of the commoners never have any complains about us, that is what I call a support, we don't have a webpage and we won't have won, as soon as album is released I will post it in promotion thread and I will give free download for everyone, except for Serbs (like there are some Serbs here)...

Seeing as I don't know many metalheads living in my town, I don't really know any 'local' bands but there is one called The River. They play doom metal and you can find them on Metal Archives. I've only heard one song by them but it sounds promising. My city though it another story. We've given birth to some of the more well known bands like Maiden, Gorerotted, DragonForce, Porcupine Tree, Akercocke etc.

We've got some really great bands come out of Melbourne. Firstly, there's Vanishing Point which I am sure many of you already know about. They play a power/progressive style of metal. Definitely one of the best bands around here. Their latest album was just amazing. Dark Earth are another very good band, playing a melodic death metal style. Not entirely original, but they are still a very good band. I've managed to see them live two or three times now and they really draw a crowd. You can check some of their stuff at http://www.myspace.com/darkearth Festation are another great band from around here. They've got a very complex style of metal, mixing progressive, black, death and thrash metal into a very unique sounding band. They've got some really great stuff. http://www.myspace.com/festationmetal Ne Obliviscaris are another great original band from Melbourne. I definitely recommend these guys to any prog fans. They have a very complex style of music, with mixtures of black, death, prog, thrash, classical, jazz and with melodic parts here and there. They're a very new band, having only done the debut show early last year and have managed to gain attention around here rapidly. Like most other bands, you can find them on myspace too http://myspace.com/neobliviscaris Now of course, there are many other bands that are worth giving a listen however I won't name them all now. And then also, there's the bigger bands around here like Black Majesty, Destroyer 666, Anarion etc.

28.02.2007 - 22:17 Written by Eternal Flames on 28.02.2007 at 07:09 Wow, I just listened to that Ne Obliviscaris band and im amazed, really unique. Do they have any albums or EPs out yet? cus I wouldnt mind getting a hold of an album of theres or something. Anyways, im from calgary, canada. and theres probably 2 of my favorite local bands, one of which is Verbal Deception, who are actually getting pretty big, I believe they opened for Quo Vadis on like a 6 stop american tour or something. Anyways, there pretty much folk metal but they call themselves 'Pirate Metal' because there music is pretty much all about pirates and stuff, and the music sounds very Pirate-esque. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=34926767 The next one is Nebucadnezzer, the best way I could describe them is somewhat reminiscent of Arch Enemy in a way, but here it is: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=17140189 The song to definitly check out by those guys is 'Our Last Masquerade'

Well, we hacve a lot of bands here in Medellín. - Kraken, the most important metal band in Colombia, was formed here in the june 18, 1984. They have a classic heavy metal sound, with grat vocals performed by Elkin Ramírez. They have 5 studio albums, 1 DVD, one compilation and a live concert with the Bogotá filarmonic orchestra. If you can read spanish, check www.krakencolombia.net in teh down part is says "descargas" click there if you want to download some songs they have uploaded, or some videos. - Gaias Pendulum, I'm not sure of the genre... I think is doom gothic... I don'tlisten to tehm that much. - Lilith, gothic metal the cool thing a bout this bands: All girls, all beautiful a very talented. - Bless The Silence, brutal black metal, pretty much like every black/death metal band sound, but veyr very good. When I listened to them the first time, I thought they were from norway or something. - Angkor, a new band, they recently released a demo. Speed/heavy power. Really talented these guys, they have nothing to envy to many european PM bands. Their drummer is awesome and so ins his guitar player. One hell of a band.

If there's one band from out here in Montréal that you should give a listen to, it's Profugus Mortis. They definitely have not yet received the recognition they deserve. www.myspace.com/profugusmortis if you can't find any of their songs, I'll gladly hook you up with some of their songs. Very Viking/Folk Metal-esque.

01.03.2007 - 07:18 Quote: No, they haven't released any EP's or albums yet but I know they have finished recording and mastering the EP and it should be released sometime soon. Their EP was meant to be released earlier this month when they supported Suffocation here in Melbourne, but I think the release date might have been delayed. I'm not too sure if they've released it by now, but they plan to make the EP entitled "The Aurora Veil" available for purchase on their myspace.

My Enchantment is the local band i appreciate the most. To be honest i dont know many bands from here that have actually released an album. Most of the bands i know are playing in local festivals/concerts. "Bloody Eyes" and "Twisted Project" being 2 examples. We actually have a substantive number of people playing metal in this area.

There used to be a band called Assamalla - melodic black metal - the band split-up few years ago and the (city) scene is pretty empty today. Of course there are some other minor metal bands, but they are not worth mentioning.

Stato Nervoso Precario (also knowns as SNP) is a band from my hometown, Sondrio (north of italy). They recorded the first album "Excess" in 1995. it was a good thrash album and they played many concerts, even with important bands as Metallica. After "excess" they hade many poblems about label, and so theyhad to sto their activity for a long time In 2003 SNP recorded "Scarface", still thrashy but with modern sounds. You can check their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/statonervosoprecario and their official site: http://www.statonervosoprecario.it/sitoSNP2006/main.html Hope you enjoi their music

Sorry I haven't been around very much, but I have listened to some of the bands that people have mentioned and there is quite a bit of good stuff here. @Dr. Rock: It looks like Verbal Deception is coming to my home town in the summer this year. Have you seen them live? If so how are they live? I'll probably go either way, but I'm just curious that's all.

08.03.2007 - 06:25 Written by Bloody Rain on 08.03.2007 at 06:02 There awesome live! as far as stage presence goes there not the greatest ( they dont move around much) but performance wise there shit is really good, I highly recommend to pick up there album if theyre on sale at the show (theres a secret song I could tell you about). and if you happen to meet one of the members before the show tell them to play the mortal kombat theme song, and see there reaction (theyve played that song twice live before and it makes an insane mosh song.) also after you do go see them tell me about it, calgarians absolutely love them but I wanna see a reaction from an outside source.
