Necrophobic - Part Ways With Bassist Alexander Friberg

Couple of days ago, Swedes Necrophobic announced that they have parted ways with bassist Alexander Friberg due to several reasons. Alexander, who joined the band in 2008, will be focusing on his other projects/bands, where he is involved in and active - Naglfar and Firespawn.

Statement from the band: "Necrophobic have decided to part ways with Alexander Friberg due to several reasons. We thank him for great times together and wish him the best in the future with his other obligations in Naglfar and his main band Firespawn.

...everything's less of a scandal than Tobias leaving.

His personal response was less than professional but as someone who's had experience with unprofessional behavior in the past, I can empathize. The last album of theirs worth listening to was released before he even joined the band, although it's difficult to blame a non-founding member who plays bass for their lack of prominence in their current mold. At least Naglfar and Firespawn have major label status so his career in music is far from over.

Mark Of The Necrogram was a fantastic album I think and it was very well received by fans, critics and media.

You're probably right, I'm just going by what I remember of them and since I took a bit of a step back from the scene for a few years I'm out of the loop on a lot of current stuff. I didn't even realize they had a 2018 release until coming back and seeing this news update

Talk about a fucking understatement. I've been trying to catch up on some new shit after being away from the site -- and the scene as a whole -- for a few years, and their latest is outstanding. Your review did it justice and I hope, like you, that it puts them on the map so newcomers explore their amazing back catalog. They've been around forever producing this triple A content and it seems like they've always been overlooked.

I'm pleased you liked it, it was one of my favourite releases last year. It's great to have you back (if you are actually back, that is)

My ghost will haunt this server and I'll write phantom reviews from beyond the grave if I have to.
