At this point Evergrey appear to be in a comfort zone where they are unable to produce a mediocre album. Are they capable of releasing a grand album though?

Great album! Has heavy and soft moments, both working out pretty well together, the heavy songs relying on groovy riffs, and the soft songs on the catchy atmospheric keyboard melodies, all tied up with insane solos and the amazing vocal from Tom. This album is much better than their last two efforts to say the least!

Approved, much better than The Atlantic which was a complete blind spot for me. Maybe 1-2 tracks are off the mark, the rest is from good to amazing.

I like it. The band continues to deliver really solid records, mainly since the return of some of their original members. "Hymns for the Broken", for me, is still the best record since the band returned to the right path, but this one is still a pretty decent piece of music.

A very consistent and balanced album. haven't been able to find any standout songs till yet, but overall it all seems tightly knit and cool, catchy power metal.

When you listen this band you think old one was better, but in end of album you understand that this was good. He always finds new ways to somehow make this new album, every new album. There is something what band has, some songs are emotional.

I stand whit Ukraine and Israel. They have right to defend own citizens.

Stories is a standout on a consistently likeable tracklist. Evergrey are a band I'll generally give each album a listen of and not feel much inclination to return to despite thinking that they're good albums, and I can see this being the same, but they are a really proficient band

I felt like I was listening to a 90s rock band, something like 3doors down. It felt really nostalgic. Some of the songs are really catchy.

Every album of Evergrey is on the verge where you think the sound is getting stale and you have heard it a lot earlier. After few spins, you find few songs becoming your favourites and gets repeated in your playlist. I think they are lucky that they are in a genre where the music, even though repeated, doesn't become boring. Their mix of soft melodies with hard riffs are a likeable mix by most music lovers and its their safe haven which they don't attempt to cross.

Wow, this was quite a surprise to me! Power was the 2nd subgenre I fell in love with after getting to metal through symphonic. That happened with Blind Guardian, and I'd overlook Evergrey many times for being too "modern" for my ears at that time, but now, I feel this album just like a fresh air power metal so much needs. Of course this receptivity comes after becoming more open about changes in general, but even as classical power metal album this would be very solid even if was released like, 10 or 15 years ago. The rate kind of surprises me, for this surely is my candidate to stand as the best metal album of the year until now.

I really like it. Similar sound to that which was on The Atlantic but the album overall is faster and heaver. However, its also its far less progressive and doesn't have a unifying theme throughout its tracks like the former album did.

Highlights: Escape of the Phoenix, Forever Outsider, Eternal Nocturnal, Leaden Saints
