Slayer - Announce Reunion Shows
Yes, it's true, Slayer is back! The band, who had disbanded after a farewell tour back in 2019, will be playing at least two shows this September; they will be headlining this year's Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and Riot Fest in Chicago. While it is not known if the reunion will be a permanent one, the lineup will reportedly include the same as before the breakup, co-founders Tom Araya (vocals, bass) and Kerry King (guitar), joined by Paul Bostaph (drummer) and Exodus' Gary Holt (guitar).
Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya commented via press release: "Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we're on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans. And to be honest, we have missed that."
Guitarist Kerry King added: "Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them."

Written by Sanderkill on 23.02.2024 at 02:27 Possibly, but his voice is too far gone. Even on later studio albums you can hear how it deteriorated. It was even more evident during live performances. Last time I saw them (in 2018 or 2019), he was getting worse with each song. It's blatantly obvious that he is not able to sing well anymore. A few gigs here and there he can probably manage, but not a full tour for sure. I'm pretty sure Tom's voice was the main (if not only) reason for Slayer disbanding.

You either have energy or you don't. Some guys like Kerry King still thinks he's 30yrs younger. But I don't think was practicing his vocals at all outside of making music. But it's all good 👍🏻 Also, Mark (Death Angel) is one hell of a versatile singer. He doesn't have to sing like Tom, but I think King had control over that. And he has great energy live. It is the hardest I've heard of Mark's vocals though
