I love when people go all "this girl is better than your goth girls" and then post a picture of a girl wearing a pleather outfit from Hot Topic.

Of course I meant it as my personal preference, not saying that it's better than other people's choices . If just I happen to like heavy and thrash metal the most my choice would probably come from those genres.

I never said leather was more goth than anything. I was just laughing at the comparison you made... It was kind of ironic given the pictures you provided.

I don't wear such shit, besides band T-shirts, but that's just to feel badass wearing them. Also my Vital Remains shirt has boobs on it, so nobody really minds.

Yeah that's a good question, dunno really how it's today. I'm living in the past so how it used to be, band t-shirt for sure fits to it and some light blue denim and leather. Maybe some chains but that can be poser too

The others qualify as candidates to the ugliest metal ladies

Okay, I know Tarja isn't everyone's cup of tea, but women like Vibeke and Sharon are faaaar from even being considered ugly. Vibeke may be a bit chubbier than most these women, but she is nowhere near unhealthy weight and that amount of extra curves only makes her sexier, because she is a dignified lady. Plus she has the most unbelievably beautiful face I've seen.

Maybe they take better care of themselves in general. What makes women age most is that they rush into "being women" at the first hints of puberty, which takes its toll later on as they grow older, while most of the girls that are into metal were at least a bit of tomboys. I haven't met a single chick in the metal world who didn't find the whole cosmetics, late girl nights chit chat, unhealthy dieting when their weight is fine and other teen girl behavior a bit redundant when they hit puberty.

NOT to say that ALL teenage girls do this, or that metal girls aren't at all girly. Just saying that none of the girls that are into metal which I got to know started wearing their mothers' heels and lipstick when they're thirteen which is somewhat of a norm.

Probably it's this the reason. But I intended to say that some of female metal musicians look good after their 30's... Otherwise I don't know a lot of girls who stayed in metal after their 30's. Well, not necessarily, but it is indeed true The percentage of people who stay into metal well into their thirties is small anyway, and there was always fewer metal girls than guys, so you do the math. A lot of those women listen to metal but aren't active in the scene, they don't go to concerts and stuff. That happens in an age much earlier than thirty in fact.

As long as we're digressing, let's illustrate... there were four metal chicks in my high school class; my sister, two friends and me. My sister and me still listen to metal every day, the other two are too busy to have a regular listening schedule. I'm the only one of the four who still digs up new bands and genres and goes to all local gigs. At the latest gig, I met my biology teacher from three years ago, and he complimented me for still being into the scene although I'm out of high school; he says the girls are "the first to lose interest". But I don't think the other female metalheads out of teenage-hood can be blamed for not attending gigs any more... they are really no place for a lady. I couldn't care less for dressing up and being in a place where everyone is polite on a gig - I have other places to do that. But I still sometimes wish I could get out of a venue without bruises and the stench of cigarettes on my body.

Yes, it'll be better to say after 20's. It's not necessary to go on gigs to be a metalhead or punk or goth or anything. The problem is that they never have really been, they dress in alternative clothes just to be different from their parents or to be appreciated or neglected from community,... that's the faze in their lives. The true metal (or anything else) fans (woman and man) remain in this for a lifetime...
