The Current Situation In The Middle-East
|

Here's something to discuss:
- What kind of action should different big nations and unions (UN, USA, EU, etc.) actually take in the different situations that are happening over there?
- On who's side are you? Israel's or Palestine's? Why?
- What should be done on Iran? How could we be sure of the true intentions of Iran's nuclear plans?
- What do you think about Iraq's current situation? Was Saddams death penalty justified?
- How non-religious would you consider the different conflicts?
- Would you consider peace in the Middle-East as a realistic dream?
Please, discuss. Oh, and remember, no spamming, no stupidity what so ever. State your opinions calmly and try to be an adult.

I watched "Occupation 101" years ago, from a recommendation in this forum. remembered as why some people dislike politics so much, and why (politics is the mind killer). It is a cheap film indeed, yet I justifiably feel pointing out what is wrong with it - won't move forward this discourse. Films are the worst types of manipulative propaganda. They mix rhetoric of preacher, images of propaganda posters & emotional music. Did you ever watch "The Eternal Jew (Der Ewige Jude)"? Incorrect reasoning in argumentation - is the main tool of propaganda. Do you're-self a favor, get the book "How to Lie with Statistics" - and then watch the film "Der Ewige Jude" for starters. I would also look at what is a "straw man" and "appeal to authority". Then you tell me, what maybe is wrong with "Occupation 101". Did I post during this long (and what is turning out to be a wearisome) debate, a picture? a film? A legitimate debate requires an honest and aware attempt that all logical fallacies, fed by emotionalism, be kept out of discourse, in order to qualify as reasonable debate - formally or informally. Let's see, can you actually sum-up some arguments from the film?

Again! But when you make up a country based on Theodor Herzl's ideology, and even if many folks have rejected Ashkenazi Jews, this doesn't justify it. If you choose to fight racism by racism then you'll suffer calling peace! Palestine is the legitimate one.

Israeli PM Netanyahu rejects Obama '1967 borders' view This piece of shit refuses a demilitarized Palestinian state on 1967 borders while we wish most of Palestinians to accept it and to forget about 1948 avoiding more bloodshed! How promising situation! isn't it? "the viability of a Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of the viability of the one and only Jewish state" Seriously WTF! reverse the phrase and it'd be like talking to himself when they decided to make their own state. Peace... Fuck off! in your dreams.

'AIPAC activists beat me' Rae Abileah said... Jewish woman who disrupted PM's Congress speech says members of Jewish lobby attacked her. If there are many of this woman, if there are voices can make change in Israel's decisions... Practice what you preach, Netanyahu!

I wonder what Bibi is planing, if he has a plan at all. It seems he relies on the Israeli/Jewish lobby & mostly Christian congress men, and in the country the support of mostly the religious right and settler's with his empty appeal to patriotism. Which won't help Israeli interests according to the Israeli newspapers this morning, including ex-Moassad and other prominent figures in Israeli politics.

Bibi knows what he's doing very well, it indirectly shows that the upper hand is theirs hinting Pax Judaica and Obama's sitting on AIPAC's dick... the way to the next presidential elections. I guess 2012 won't surprise me unless the Mayan prophecies will come true!

Btw, if any egyptian is in the house lets see what you think about this: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=question&id=10150200380078036&qa_ref=ns¬if_t=question_suggest its a poll by Orphaned land (for egyptians only) asking if they'd play in Egypt or not, until now me and all my friends voted yes (except one dude voted no), but the total is 3 times the amount of people are saying yes more than who are saying no... so, participate and lets see where does this go.

Recently, there are no many Egyptians here! The problem is it seems non-Egyptians are stupidly voting too, just for showing their support for the band. You can't rely on people these days. lol I doubt the government is going to allow that event after those protests in front of the Israeli embassy. It might be a danger for their safety! unless this news will remain underground or away of the media. Anyway I voted YES with the comment ''Bad timing!" if it's going to be soon.

But what's wrong in an in Israeli band playing in Egypt ? hundreds of Isrealis go to Egypt everyday for tourism and business and it is okay by the authorities, but when a band that we like wants to do show then ll of sudden people get defensive and say no ?

If you noticed, there are more than a comment refusing the idea! posted by Egyptian fans I'm with you about what you said but these cases you mentioned are individual and mostly unnoticeable except in south Sinai but a metal gig - after the metal propaganda in Egypt - and an Israeli band, I think the authorities will think twice before allowing such event regardless if we like or dislike the whole idea!

This way we'll never have any decent band play here, as any band that would come surely those extremist fanatics wouldn't allow it, either coz the members are athiests or that one of them is jewish or coz one of their albums has an inverted cross or a reference to god ... people need to get over this, besides Orphaned Land's lyrics are mostly bout coexisting and peace

People may i add that most of u are young (even me) and with the media controling everything i suggest that we dont talk about such things...we all know that what ur going to say is what Your perents told u in the past and what ur local and even international brain washing media is telling u now...Politics is a dirty game wich can only feed the unstoppable war machine and can only devide us, we are all human beings and we are all against the fact that killing ppl is just wrong (unless ur a freaking psycho on staroids)...

Speaking of me '24 years old' doesn't mean 'young' imo Media is not the only source of knowledge, annals of history and articles, books, to be revised after all. btw I never heard a shit about politics from my parents and I can't accuse all the worldwide media of brainwashing. And I don't think apathy and escapism would stop wars!

Speaking of fights, if you mean arguments while debating, well even old men do it and I'd show you videos if you want! You can just skip topics like this one and rest your weary mind.

Such a nice picture. Assad is a holy saint fighting against big Satan and little Satan. Syrian defectors are telling people that Iranian officers and Hezbollah members are running the Syrian army, shooting them in the back when (sometimes) Syrian soldiers don't want to fire on there own people.
