I love the overall atmosphere and vocals, but it sounds a tad monotonous. I'll definitely give it a few more listens though. Definitely worth it

Until now I loved their albums, their songs and their live shows which were damn good! I only can't understand why do they tag their Instagram posts with the hashtag noresttillstalingrad

I assume that the Panzer in their name along with that hashtag references Operation Barbarossa. Hopefully it's an innocent thing and they're not sharing the ideology.

Yeah that makes me sort of suspicious, specially when I was their live show they played speech in German from the same reference. I must look up my recordings from the live again to find out which song it was, I don't think it's that innocent.

Found this:
Quote:
2. I found on the internet that Panzerfaust was the name of an anti-tank weapon of Germany in the World War 2. Why did you choose this name for the band? What do you want to express and represent with it?
Kaizer : Initially it had been a result of the deep-rooted interest both LB and I had in military history, particularly with that of the second World War. This name has earned us much flack with the accusations that we are a NSBM band. This is nonsense. Anytime I am fronted with this charge I respond as I always have: Read the lyrics; do some work on your own account, and you will come to the obvious conclusion that is not the case. As for the bearing or significance the name holds, it has gone through something of a metamorphosis for me internally. Time has proven that this band is both a weapon towards the world as well as a weapon unto ourselves; a reflection of the trials and tribulations spawned from the band's very existence. Within this profound context, I believe the deepest meaning can be found.
I think we're in the safe.

This is awesome. They're a new band to me so I checked out Chapter 1 as well and that was equally as awesome.

Yeah, thanks metalstorm for voting this up, excellent BM release. Their old work is equally impressive. Also, thanks RaduP for confirming this is not NSBM, I was concerned when I saw their name.

Interesting atmosphere for a black metal album. Almost reminds me of Isis or Cult Of Luna.

Definitely reminiscent of Deathspell Omega. This is a terrific black metal release. Wonderful atmosphere, the riffing is delicious. Slow, electronic vibes, chorus-y, extremely intelligent black metal.

So apparently this failed to win the award for best black metal album of the year.
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

I should have pushed this more. Easily one of the best BM records of the last 5 years and possibly the best Canadian metal album I've ever heard.

All this talk about album collections in the shoutbox had me look this up on Bandcamp. All previous vinyl formats had been sold out but I guess they pressed a clear edition recently, so I should be receiving my copy in the next week or so. Early Christmas present to myself.

I've been after a copy for ages but they won't post to EU. Bizarre attitude if you ask me.
Edit => Scratch that. It looks like they're offering postage to the UK now. Ordered!

It's odd this has a lower score than Chapter 1 as it's clearly the better album for me.
There's not a lot in it but this is bloody perfect. I've been coming back to it time and time again for the past 18 months.
I can't even begin to imagine how good Chapter 3 will be... Assuming there will be a Chapter 3 of course.

Panzerfaust have so much influence and inspiration from many other bands and the more I listen to them I notice that this isn't just black metal, there's elemental doom as well as psychedelic like Esoteric and The Ruins of Beverast.

Having listened to Chapter III first and loving it, I am not feeling this one as much. The atmosphere is as dark as I like it; vocals are insanely good, the drumming is excellent, etc. It is the guitar work that underwhelms me. The rhythm guitar appears to play a single chord for the entire album (that’s not literally true, it’s just how it feels) and the lead is playing your run-of-the-mill black metal melodies, which aren’t exciting, regardless of if the melodies venture into more dissonant territory or remain gloomy/sad/minor-sounding in the traditional manner. I realize this is all intentional and serves the album’s atmosphere extremely well for most listeners, but it still disappoints me to an extent. I can’t decide if this is a 7/10 or an 8 before giving it a few more chances to grow on me.

Another unsurprisingly solid release. This time I'm getting alot more of a Deathspell Omega vibe from this one than the first release, and some of the riffs have melodies similar to Mgła aswel as the Darkside influenced drumming which is great.
The vocals especially are phenomenal, although I think this just lacks that overall atmosphere Chaper I had, this seemed somehow more mellow and not as dark or powerful, this one though is alot more melodic and had such memorable moments, The last three tracks I'm particular are so damn good! Fortunately though the atmosphere was made up for on part III once again, but this is still an outstanding release and more than worthy follow up for the saga.

I wouldn't say Chapter II has less atmosphere than Chapter I. For me it's just a different kind of atmosphere.
This album is a lot more rhythmic, more tribal sounding. There are even middle eastern themed melodies creeping in and out. For me the sonic palette is a lot broader. Yes it's more melodic, not as dark and sludgy and certainly more memorable. It's in my top 5 favourite metal albums of the past 5 years, possibly even #1. I've lost count of how many times I've played it now but it's certainly over 20.

Your definitely right about the atmosphere, it's different and because of that it took me by surprise. I still think out of the three this one comes out on top.
