I also like Manowar and it's one of my favorites...but also I like Savatage (people dislke them a lot like Manowar)...I always say to people every band in the world, bad or god, hated or loed, mush have one great song...so we can't say that there is greatest metal bend in the world...

All I have from Savatage is 'Hall Of The Mountain King'. It's a pretty good heavy metal record. They're old school, I like 'em too. But I think the Manowar hate comes more from their image and perhaps the themes of their songs. Oh well, good music is something different for everyone and I love Manowar

I have all savatahe records and for me, of course after Iron Maiden they are one of the greatest, but I also have all Manowar records and I also like them a lot ex. kings Of Metal, Triumph and Battle Hymns...and fr me their lyrics are one of the greatest and playing is also very very good...for voice I don't need to say nothing

If there ever was a #1 Greatest Metal band, it would have to be Black Sabbath. great songs & musicians, and has most likely influenced every other metal band out there in one way or another.

I dont really believe you guys like Manowar.......Hail To England, Louder Than Hell and Warriors of The World are classics. King of Metal only 2 songs are good, an very much overrated album, Triumph....and Battle Hymn such a junk. Didnt sound like you guys got all their albums. But I did. I can see you just praised the albums based on the "All..." website review, the website is not accurate All The Time.

MAn, just llok at my Manowar Best Albums list and you will see....Hail is very good album i agree with you...but how can you say that Triumph and Kings sucks...Triumph is one of greatest...achilles (pure progressive)

Um, ya know...back then I think I was posting a lot of my responses as a general one because whenever someone gives their honest opinion...and this is in ANY DAMN FORUM not just this one thanks, so no backlashes on me haha...whenever there were these 'which one do YOU think?' threads, someone would state which band they thought was super awesome and then someone else would shit down their neck with full frontal assault instead typing something like, 'well, ACTUALLY, this this and this positive point and this this and this negative point'...it would just be 'xxxxxxxx sux and xxxxxxxx rulz' blah blah blah'

There's nothing progressive about Achiles... Long song does not equal progressive. Furthermore, the songwriting ofthat song is not even that good, the songwriting is incohesive, the sound is not tight enough for an epic song. Sorry to be a douche, just my point of view.

An okay band, to be sure. Not even remotely close to best metal band, however.

Hmm... it's a toss up between Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock. Both create such wonderfully original and infallible pieces that their crown simply cannot be denied. They are easily two of the heaviest and even most poetic bands I have ever heard, and they're far more consistent than most others in the metal genre.

Im going to either say Metallica Or Black Sabbath. Metallica because they started from the bottom and worked up. Metallica has been through it all and survived. They wrote classic albums, they sold out with the Black Album and still came out on top with the "Metalheads fanbase". They played with an symphony orchestra and nailed it. They smoked every cover song with Garage Inc. Everybody knows Metallica from my grandma to my father to me. They have played through every cycle of genres throughout their career. Thrash, even some hard rock elements through the Load and Reload era's. Even a tiny bit of Nu-Metal with St. Anger. They are still touring and doing very well at it.Come on, they have Metal in their name. To me, they deserve the title as the best heavy metal band of all time.

Just as equal or better is Black Sabbath. They created the Genre. Possibly without Black Sabbath their might not have even a Metallica. They deserve the title just for Black Sabbath and Paranoid. The music speaks for itself with Black Sabbath. They have classic written all over them and they are still going today some how. After all the drugs and money and drama from years ago they came out of and survived. They may not have Bill but ill take it. Its more than half. Heavy Metal would not be what it is without them.

This is just my opinion,take it or leave it. But to me, either one would due.

They're not as well known, but doomsters Messiah Marcolin and Robert Lowe are pretty damn good.

I believe the symphonic black metal band Carach Angren. I believe this because the band tell horror stories about war that have an eerie feel to it. Tales about war, ghosts. They have 3 full length albums out. Instrumentally it is beautiful, they use symphonic instruments and it blends in very well with the guitars, drums etc. You can tell the amount of emotion by the vocalists voice. This is why I believe this band is the best band.
