In the Wake of Poseidon is King Crimson's second album, and would be considered by many to be ground breaking. That would be the case if it wasn't so similar to their debut album In the Court of the Crimson King. Sure the production is cleaner, and there is an even bigger mellotron presence but that's where the differences end.

No doubt that it's a great album, but most of the songs overlaps with the previous album's tracks. And those overlaps are too exact and specific. It feels less energetic and less brilliant, less original.
Of course I'm comparing this to In The Court of the Crimson King so it's almost impossible to top it, but I wish they tried more different stuff to the first album.

Forgot how painfully boring this one is. Definitely the weakest of the symphonic prog era KC

Title song is great though.

It's too derivative of ITCOTCK for me to be interesting. It's essentially "Epitaph at home".

I like it. Also the second album was already created in turmoil, considering that, it's a more than decent album if you ask me.
