We all know that the NWOBHM was an important movement in heavy metal. However, what do you think metal would've been like if that movement never existed?

No offense meant, but that question is completely useless, because IMO it's impossible to know the answer to that since the NWOBHM is the foundation of metal. Personally I deem all "what if" questions as unanswerable.

Then the americans would've made it. An evolution so clear in music or any other department is just inevitable. So if the British would.nt have done it somebody else would. Like the man on the moon.

Well interesting, I say many bands wont exit nowdays German HM 80's bands wont eb so forgotten and rule the world, we would have lil diferen fassion style, Conan never would exist, girlsd wont say sexy men has huge muscles, there would be less posers in this genre, there be less bands and I think norsk bm wont be so overated and many bands be more in deeper underground and in MA datebase wont be so huge and and Bruve Dickinson never would be so famose and Steave Harris would be ICF top boy

If the NWOBHM movement never existed, there would have been something else there that molded heavy metal into what it presently is today.

05.09.2012 - 00:54 Written by [user id=115335] on 04.09.2012 at 18:06 some of us would have 2-3 posts less and if NWOBHM never existed I would say there would be something NVODHM - new wave of deutche hm , because Ger scene is huge , biggest in 80's after USA maybe bigger, so many bands lie MP whatever wont be forgotten

I know Metal would probably not be the way it is today without it, however it could come across through a different movement or at a later period in time. Metal would probably sound different today if that were the case possibly.

NWOBHM is not a sound it's actually a period in time.

07.12.2012 - 15:03 Written by Boxcar Willy on 07.12.2012 at 14:49 it was a period from 1979 till 1983 or so when loads of new metal bands that got popular came out of England/UK Just compare, from that period, Iron Maiden, Venom, Def Leppard, Samson, Holocaust, A II Z, Saxon, Diamond Head, Sweet Savage, Raven, Girlschool, Witchfynde, Jaguar, Angelwitch, Tresspass, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Sledgehammer, Vardis, Blitzkrieg, Praying Mantis, Fist and Witchfinder General and you'll see that musically they can't really be compared except one or two of them.
