i don't own a car or even have a driver's license, but I've come to the conclusion that the best driving songs are the mid-fast paced rockers with simple catchy riffs, like Rammstein - Asche Zu Asche, Primal Fear - Final Embrace, Scorpions - Coming Home etc. or the mid-paced live anthems like Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar on Me, Manowar - Warriors of the World United, etc. to sing along with buddies haha

Everything by Fu Manchu (nuff said)
Woman by Wolfmother (the perfect rhythm and riff for driving down one of them American highways.)
Information Economy by old school grindcore ensemble Insect Warfare (fast AND groovy bits!)
Well Paid Scientist and Winnebago Warrior by Dead Kennedy's (twice as fast and angry at work/ school!)
Heart Of The Sunrise by Yes (plain epicness)
and a whole shit of other songs...
I don't own a car nor do I have the legal age to drive one but when dad (metal comrade) and I are in the car we always listen to these kind of things.

My car's stereo system consists of crappy speakers with minimal capability for bass, therefore poorly recorded black metal is the only stuff that sounds good when I'm driving.

I 've got no special driving songs. Sometimes I put on the radio (at 05.00 am for example) but most of the time I put on a CD . I've got like 40 CD's in my car, all metal, with much variety: from Def Leppard to Gorgoroth and from Fear Factory to Impetigo. After a certain time I change a part of them and so I always have "new" songs.

I don't have any MP3 samplers. I put on original CD's or (sometimes) CD-r's and most of the time I listen them to the end.
If I don't like what I hear I put it aside and I take another.
Favorite songs? Difficult question, it depends.
I like Children Of Bodom's Silent Night, Bodom Night, Warheart or the whole Hate Crew Deathroll album in the car.
I like listening death metal in the car, like Kataklysm, Morbid Angel (Immortal Rites, Maze Of Torment!, Death (especially Leprosy with Pull The Plug)
I like Our Saviour from Paradise Lost and When The Sun Burns Red from Kreator.
Man, I like sooooo much songs...

I listen to all kinds of metal while in the car...I have an ipod hooked up in the tape deck. I put it on random and let the tunes play! It'll go from Emperor to Maiden to Vomit the Soul and on and on. I have 3000 something songs to choose from so it never gets old

I always listen to Tyr or some folk metal. Then if someone pisses me off when I am driving I switch it to some black metal, mainly Darkthrone. And trust me that happens alot

Agreed. The music must have some kick in it in order to keep me awake during longer drives. Samael's "Above" is one of my favourite albums to listen in the car, followed by SepticFlesh "Communion".

I have a wicked compilation tape of great driving songs, but not all are metal. They are
1) Master of Puppets - metallica
2)Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
3)The leper affinity - Opeth
4) Lotus eater - Opeth
5) Milkshake - Goodnight nurse
6) Mastodon - Blood and Thunder
7) Barbie Girl (german) - Aqua (put the windows down and pump it in a random main street)
8)Fucking Hostile - Pantera
9) Panic attack - dream theater.
and i forget the rest.

That's a great driving song, so immense and crushing. I would love to drive a tank to that song!

I tend to not listen to Death Metal while driving, something about doing hair whips and stopping at stop signs just doesn't mix well with me. I opt for blues and folk, or hip hop (so I fit in with the people driving around me)

now I have 39 albums some were from my friends as a gift.

I don't have any specific driving songs, just put on whatever I'm in the mood for. Tbh, the most fun stuff is to throw on some heavy electronic/dance music and crank the bass.

I listen to whatever when I drive but it's the night driving I am picky about. Always thought Millionflame by Soilwork was an awesome night driving track. Some of the darker more atmospheric tracks from Pink Floyd is great. Gaia by Devin Townsend Band. Just about anything from Van Halen's 5150. Godflesh's Songs of Love and Hate. That's all I can think of right now.

A decent radio station if I can tune into one. When I listen to music I like to pause and rewind often, and that's not a smart thing to do while driving.

Fast-paced songs with catchy riffs and an upbeat non-serious attitude (Metallica's No Remorse or Exodus' The Toxic Waltz)
However, when you're driving at night I don't think anything beats atmospheric stuff like Emperor's I Am The Black Wizards.
