A simple question. what genre or style of metal have you been listening too lately? And what band spurred it?

does this topic exist already? I guess I'll find out

Hail Lusitânia
Well, I'm recently into Folk metal, but that's something im most often into hehe...

But outside metal, i've been listening to some african/oriental rythms, some indian, arabian stuff, with those cool instruments... I would like to discover some bands with that kind of folk metal...
Recently found Amaseffer (from Israel), and they have some nice traditional rythms between the metal parts, but not something as pure as i was looking for...

Gothenburg, I've been listening to bands such as Soilwork and Disarmonia Mundi for a while, but it was Scar Symmetry that actually got me looking up bands such as these.

I've been getting into some Mathcore or whatever its called.

I guess started by people like Botch-- but now I like this band The Minor Times. They had one album then split up, which was quite unfortunate.

The last month or so I've been mostly stuck on black metal and its spin offs. Ranging from Immortal to Shining to Arcturus - just can't seem to get enough of it at the moment.

A lot of black metal (in all his forms) last months, thanks to Windir, Vreid, Rotting Christ, 1349, Absu, Mayhem...
I know it isn't all pure Black Metal, but every mentioned band has their "black" moments.

Power metal actually, at least more so than before, since I'm still deeply rooted within black metal and death metal. I blame this on a mixture of Hammerfall and Hibria, and generally guitar driven power metal in general (as opposed to the synth driven gaycheesy flowercheese).

"Suicidal Black Metal" as it's called on here, well basicly Shining. I've read alot about them, and thought, now I must give them a chance, and boy, really love the stuff. Anyone know more music in the vein of V - Halmstad? Would love to hear more of that kind.

But seriously, I'm listening more to doom and black metal. I guess it started with Daylight Dies and my discovery of Shining for the second time.

I used to really hate Melodic Death Metal Until I got Amon Amarth's "With Oden On Our Side". I had no idea how much I was missing out on.

I'd recommend Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, old In Flames, newer Hypocrisy, old Soilwork, Amon Amarth, Wintersun. Just to name a few of the more well known bands

Been mainly into Folk for a while now, though Black and Gothic pop out every now and then. Finntroll was the first folk band I listened to, but that was two years ago and I don't listen to them very often, now. My present folk period has been started by Ensiferum and Moonsorrow, as well as a new interest for Equilibrium's debut, Turis Fratyr.
