1984....MTV was not in every household, metal was not all over the radio, and you couldn't pick and choose your favorite songs to download. One of the complaints that I have seen about "Defenders of the Faith" is that there is not a standout track (i.e. "Breaking the Law" or "You've Got Another Thing Coming"), but this is the biggest draw of the album for me. There are no filler tracks.

Funny you mention this... I already did that and I call the album Defenders of Vengeance... even combines the album art as well

Nice work - and I like the title. Beats Screaming for Faith. Out of curiosity, what's the track listing?

4. You Got Another Thing Comin'
5. Jawbreaker
6. Devil's Child

It's a fun game to play. Nice track listings, guys. I like the idea of equal representation between the two albums. For what it's worth, my combined super-album would be:

1. The Hellion/Electric Eye
2. Freewheel Burning
3. Riding on the Wind
4. Jawbreaker
5. Bloodstone
6. Rock Hard Ride Free
7. Screaming for Vengeance
8. The Sentinel
9. You've Got Another Thing Comin'
10. Some Heads Are Gonna Roll

They are also in alternate order between the two albums.

Overrated Priest album in my opinion. Its great, no doubt, but less exciting than most of their classics. "Jawbreaker" on the other hand is in my Top 5 Judas Priest songs.

Nah, I don't think Turbo is killer.

Yep... Whilst I don't think "Turbo" is a bad album, it's most definitely not a killer album either. There are some songs on it which I do love, but there's also some embarrassingly bad songs on that album too.

I'd also say that British Steel isn't killer either. It's a decent enough album, with some cool tracks but nowhere near killer. I would describe Sad Wings of Destiny as killer, as well as Stained Class.

Pretty much agreed on all points there! There are some great tracks on "British Steel", no doubt about it, but it is for sure an overrated album overall, and definitely the most overrated Priest album. Many consider it to be Priest's finest work, whereas it's not even in my top 5 Priest albums.

Sad Wings... and "Stained Class" are two albums that are genuine classics, and 2 of the best albums of all time in my book. Those albums, much like Sabbath's classic albums, are works of true genius.

A near perfect album and one of the best metal albums of the 80s for me..the last few tracks I'd call weird but not horrible or even filler, they have their charm and add to the uniqueness of the album. I'd put this one very high on the Priest list, not up there with Stained Class, Hellbent for Leather, or Sad Wings, but right under them possibly. Hard to rate the albums, way too many classics in the Priest cannon.

I can't call myself a fan of Stained Class (I prefer its predecessor Sin After Sin myself), but I will agree this is under Sad Wings. Hell Bent For Leather, however, doesn't even touch this. Too much filler, not enough killer.

And, god, I can't believe I'm just realizing what a beautiful track Night Comes Down is.

I really enjoy this album! Some songs don't quite work as well as others (though there aren't any real stinkers on here), but the ones that work, really work. The Sentinel and Freewheel Burning are two of my all-time favorite Priest songs. It's a nice record for sure.

If anything, Jawbreaker is underrated. It's one of Priest's very best songs imo, and should be regarded as a classic.

Undoubtedly in my top 3. "Leather Rebel" will always take the cake as my favorite priest song, however. I didn't realize "Jawbreaker" was about blowjobs until someone pointed it out to me, and then I just wondered how I managed to miss that...

Probably my favourite of the 80's records even if it falls on some lackluster tracks. The first four tracks are all classic Priest.

After revisiting this album recently I can say it's grown on me, I used to prefer Screaming For Vengeance, but now I'm not sure which I prefer, they are both equally impressive IMO.

The lyrics ain't that cleverly written but they are damn catchy and the music is Wild, fast and catchy as hell! This album with songs like Freewheel Burning, The Sentinel and Rock hard ride free, is made ideal for a stadium performance, I can't listen without the need to really get going crazy and imagining myself rockin amongst a huge crowd.

A practically flawless masterpiece with super fun songs throughout, Halford's voice in top-form, and some of Priest's best guitar-work!
My favorite songs are Rock Hard Ride Free (very underrated although it has one of the greatest guitar solos ever!) and The Sentinel (simply a masterpiece of a song through and through!). Other highlights are Love Bites (great vampire lyrics ), Eat Me Alive (really cool guitar playing between Glenn and KK), and Night Comes Down (the relaxing yet emotional slow song on the album).

Let's all join forces, rule with an iron hand...
And prove to all the world: Metal rules the land!"

Yes, this is a great album, among their best.
The first half is truely excellent throughout. The Sentinel being all-time favourite JP material.
The second half doesnt do it quite as much for me though.
That is way I prefer Sad Wings as well as Stained Class to it, though the gap is not huge.
