Those are some good choices. But even these bands have flaws. Every band has its flaws, some just have more then others. I couldn't even give you a top 3. Why? Because their are too many great bands to just settle on 3.

Flaws? ohh you mean like turbolover for JP, the whole 90's for IM except for fear of the dark and every album since ...and justice for all for metallica?

No single band can have the best of everything. No one can have the best group of musicians, the best singer, the best songwriting, and be the most influential. That is what I mean by flaws.

Everyband has their flaws, and none are the best, i personally prefer early metallica to anything anyother band has produced, but theyre new stuff has stuffed that up, so dunno what to do..

Ok I didn't mean a band that is best of the best in everything... But a band that you think got just that little extra when it comes to songwriting, stagepresent, fan base etc

Well "supergroups/bands" (or whatever they are called) usually don't make great songs either so by having the best of the best isn't that great anyway

For me defently Iron Maiden.. Band with wich I started listening metal and my first metal concert back in 2000.. And probably also Slayer is also on my top list..

Sure man, no worries it senselizes very grammatically (I always understand english text )

What I mean is I wonder why people choose their greatest metal band, I believe somewhat each metalhead always has one. The reason of their choice or their greatest level of taste, e.g Iron Maiden, veteran big shot in the metal scene, or Slayer most thrashy maddeness,...so at least you can understand more the good element elaborated by the indivdual choice or taste, then you can be converted to be some certain bands...

Best.. I wouldn't know, but there is certainly one band that stood up since the beginning, probably the most accomplished, flavoured and acclaimed in the metal scene and that would obviously be Iron Maiden. They got such a big discography and almost every album is good... I mean the first 9 albums, you can't really say that there was a bad one among those. They explored alot of styles they even did concept albums. They survived the change of vocals twice and came back stronger. They might be old now but fuck they kick ass.

And no im not saying that because its my favorite band (it is not) but mostly because of their influence and career.

Absolutely not, best is a subjective term to most, and even the most skilled techy band have metal fans who can't get into their music because they perfer some soppy melojunk. lol Jk But no this is a subjective issue that we need not even ponder a list of bands, we won't agree.

Love em or hate em but Iron Maiden is still greatest .....so answer is yes!

They were the first band to cross the line fully over from hard rock to heavy metal, created countless classic albums, and continue to influence a ton of bands to this day.

I'll disagree all day, the exhibit very little other than power chords in what we call metal today. But again subjective, and Maiden mad some crappy albums.

The topic is nowhere near musical ability and musicianship its more about consistency and overall career. We're not saying its the best band but clearly bands that would be up there saying they actually modeled the scene.. and that would be the case with Iron Maiden and Sabbath
