I'm from Regina SK, Canada and of course Into Eternity is the best band from here IMO. However we do have a few other good bands. One is "Itchy Stitches" which is a death/thrash metal band(???) with a female lead vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/itchystitches.
The Orchard is another band and they are probably the biggest local band here (except for Into Eternity). I've seen them live twice before and they put on a pretty good show. You can hear a couple of their tracks on their myspace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=65073383
The last band that I can think of for the moment is a pagan black metal band called "Wold". Their music has some noise/industrial elements and they are rather interesting. Their official site is here:http://wold.cjb.net/

well, I live IN mongolia, I can bet most of you guys haven't heard about this country.....In my hometown there are many metal fans and just few metal bands, so I write here some information of them "HOnour the sacrifice"-they say , they play "blackened trash"...has 5 members.... "Zugeer l"- black meral... " Gothika" -gothic metal, has 7 members... "Ornaments og agony"-doom metal and has 1 member " metronome"-nu-metal band abd has 4 members... I think these bands don't play very well, but it's just the beginning of them, I hope they can do good projects....

Dementia - Old school Heavy/Thrash band. Savatage-influenced kind of sound. Actually really good but their website seems to be down and there's no other online info apart from what's on MA. Production is a bit weak but they're fantastic live. Esoteric, Napalm Death and Anaal Nathrakh are just up the road as well.

Sadly Punk is what people produces mostly in my hometown, but we do have great bands to the metalscene too: Gaphia, one of the first local band I saw live, a great band www.gaphia.com http://youtube.com/watch?v=XlqV4PjnaRg Hell'n Diesel, a local priest used one of their songs for backgroundmusic in a movie he made for svt (he got famus localy for the soccerplaying priest who got a red card ) www.hell'ndiesel.net http://youtube.com/watch?v=kiqLmRScLTQ Svartnatt, I've heard they first wanted to have the name Natt Svart Frost, but changed it because NSF (National Socialistisk Front) is a nazigroup in sweden http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=95179835 Memoria, have some friends playing in this band http://www.myspace.com/memoriasweden Sovereign, my favourite local band, sadly they don't play anymore (no link, tell me if you want one song)

We have too many damn emo, punk and hard/metalcore bands in my town...I was in a promising metal band by the name of Illinium but I got kicked out...oh well, they probably won't go anywhere anyway...nobody in my town usually goes anywhere...except for me of course haha...

@Kap'N: Emo is rampant everywhere dude...atleast in NA it seems. Luckily here they dont hold any power or arent recognized very much in the local music scene and the bands only last for a matter of a few months at most before breaking up.

@Kap'N Yeah we get our fair share here, but it kind of works like this; All the shows worth going to have beer gardens so they attract a good crowd, and to fund a show like that you need good/big local bands to bring in enough people to atleast break even, and to be a big enough band like that you need to have been around for long enough to build a fan basis of some sort, most of those emo bands are just shitty high school grade 10ers bands and the only one that goes to there shows are there parents and there friends, so they dont build much of a fan basis and after playing 2 or 3 shows where the audience consists of 6 people that came out of family/friendship obligations they disband, this continuously happens, the shit fals away and the good bands rise so to speak.

Thine Eyes Bleed is a pretty sick band from my hometown they've gotten a bit of success now I guess since they were on the Unholy Alliance Tour. But aside from that and even after that they really haven't recieved that much attention which kind of sucks. You think that would have been enough for them to get much bigger. They're pretty cool dudes to. Everyone who likes thrash metal should check them out.

Unfortunately the only bands that come out of my small town are punk bands, emo bands, and some ska..?...I have tried to put a couple bands together but they always fail due to my lack of metal recruitment ability. I just can't seem to get people into the same stuff I listen to, but I guess you can't just give people grind and expect them to like it. I have a band now but we are in early practice stages and our drummer is the one we are trying to convert to metaldom. Anyone have the same problems?

Hey, you thought Africa does not produce metal? Think again! Here's one of my friend's band - Elegy - they are quite heavy/melodic in a Bodom/Kalmah way!! Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/elegytheband with mp3's, definately try out "Ad Nauseum" and "Esoteric Visions" Mynoise: www.mynoise.co.za/elegy same thing, you need an account to download mp3's so it might take a few minutes... But hey, try African metal!

Curitiba, my city, has quite a bit of local bands... the best/most famous ones here are: Eternal Sorrow: melodic doom/death. Amazingly they've been around for over 10 years! Quite some long time. Lachrimatory: doom/death with funeral influences and a cello (that takes up around 20 minutes to get tuned right in their live shows : ). Younger than Eternal Sorrow, but certainly better than most stuff we have here. Necrotério: grindcore. Brutal stuff, a bit funny, though, because the vocalist growls all kinds of curses madly between songs and sometimes in the middle of the songs. Child O Flames: thrash metal. I dunno much about them, but the public seems to like them. Soul Assassins: an old school thrash metal power trio. From a neighboring city, Paranaguá. ...and that's what I can remember from the top of my head now.

08.07.2007 - 23:00 Written by Vrana on 26.06.2007 at 20:35 That's the problem with small countries like Slovenia.. My hometown only has some selfliking metal bands that no one else listens to because they're pretty lame...we do have some known ska bands, though..the metal population is actually really small here.. Otherwise, Slovenia in general has a lot of good, if not even great metal bands, the problem is that because we're so small it's kinda hard to get extensive attention..but still there are some bands that are more known and appreciated in foreign countries than in Slovenia, which only shows our mentality..and the majority of quality metal bands is actually still in the "underground" scene in here..which is a shame, since it's very hard to see them on a gig, where the conditions are good enough for them to give and show the best they've got... Btw, which are those two bands you've been talking about? It's allways nice to get to know our scene

http://www.myspace.com/acantha http://www.acantha.ca this is my band Acantha. we're from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. kind of progressive/thrash/death/melodic metal. we're working on our full length album and hope to have it out by spring 2008! http://www.deathtollrising.net Deathtoll Rising are good friends of ours. They've opened for bands like Cryptopsy. fairly standard catchy death metal. http://www.red-tide.com Red Tide have been around for quite some time. They're death metal and enjoy war themes and have a vicious vocalist! He will also be the vocalist for my side project called the Sect of Abomination. http:www.myspace.com/sectofabomination right now there's only an instrumental songs that will be used later, but we're working on recording a 5 song demo of raw death/black/thrash metal! http://www.sectionviii.com Section VIII had former members of the most legendary Albertan metal band Disciples of Power (who were pretty much the Atheist of Canada). These guys are progressive/melodic death metal with loads of awesome riffs, trade off solos, wicked bass, and a killer vocalist. they've since broken up and my bass player joined the guitar player and drummer in an Iron Maiden cover band. http://www.myspace.com/begrimeexemious Begrime Exemious is an intense brand of blackened death metal. these guys put on an amazing show and write some of the best tunes i've heard in a long time. enjoy everyone! let me know what you think!
