Curious to see how the Melodeath category shakes out. A few bands in there due for a ton of votes.

yeah. All the previous nominees released an album last year and are nominated, so...

Is ok if I decide to vote for, let's say, a compilation album of demos in one of the categories? (thrash)

Unfortunately not. But I would indeed say that Sindrome demo compilation is by far the best thrash release of 2016.

@Che, I was a bit suprised that Horse Latitudes wasnt in drone. You didnt listen to it or you thought that 2 Nadjas and Horseback was better that Primal Gnosis?

A. You act as if I have the final say in what does and doesn't get into the MSA as our nominees (hint: I don't), and
B. "2nd wave > modern BM"... please don't use such profanities around me

I totally missed the fact that Horse Latitudes released an album... Or that they were even alive as a band. Gomenasai for not being an omnipresent being.
A shame, they are pretty damn good.

Just noticed Darkher was added That would have been a nice contender for folk as most of folk is a bit on the cheesy side othervise. Ok, I wont give any more suggestion of what could have been better

Voted for Inquisition in the black metal category. Found it to be the best bm album out of all the contenders. Best songwriting by miles since they are proper songs. And I am not even talking about the riffs... Those beat all the other contenders to smithereens.

If there is Oranssi Pazuzu among the entries and you check all of them and even so you choose Inquisition anyway then I automatically assume you have bad taste

Guys, it doesn't matter who wins the best black metal category, because all of the nominates are top quality stuff. Except Skaphe which is an overrated piece and shouldn't win no matter what. Let's focus our efforts in that.

I am not one to usually complain about nominations, but I was seriously baffled at TDEP being in djent as opposed to xKorex, and the new Car Bomb and Zao not being nominated.

How could "Harakiri for the sky" not be nominated for melodic black category? Unexpected and disapointing. I am not a big fan but I believe their last release as a great one.

They barely missed the cut in the metal gaze category. Fine album indeed. I do like their debut a bit more. Make sure you check out the rest of the nominees in the melodic black AND metal gaze groups. Awesome sauce!

Thanks to the MS awards I was introduced today to Blodstrupmoen. What an album! I am sure I'll find more gems here in the next few days. Two questions: a) did you consider Aenaon for the black or the extreme progressive metal category? b) Also Cultes Des Ghoules for black metal category?

Couldn't find Fleshgod Apocalypse anywhere and I can hardly believe it was forgotten while KING is such an awesome album ! Anyway, I added it Also hard to choose between the melodeath candidates (and this is where I realise this is my fave gender as I know almost none of the bands nominated in a lot of other categories

Should Neurotech's Symphonies album count, as only 1 of the 4 songs was new?

I obviously missed a trick this year with Black Metal, as I haven't heard of any of these!

The first of the list seems pretty good, and clearly have a sense of humour:

Not sure about the album, but The Flames Of Infinite Blackness Before Creation was the second best bm song of the year, surpassed only by Schammasch's Above The Stars Of God.

Steering away from the general consensus, I find that you guys could have done better in the black metal category. A few albums do not deserve to be nominated and I expected to see Furia and Cultes Des Ghoules (especially the latter is AOTY for me). However, congrats on the melodic black metal selections which are outstanding; I mean every album there is pure class.

I'd like to see one of the Summoning covers win the cover award, but any votes that tribute album gets will probably be spread too thin for any to come close.
Also, is Eldamar meloblack? Cause I could also see it counting as folk, gaze or post.
