Sheffield is being spoilt rotten this week, as the legendary Accept find themselves on the last of their three British dates, and the last show of their entire European tour. The weather was glorious, but as the doors opened there seemed to be a massive lack of people. Thankfully this would not be the case in a few hours time.




However first, Wolf had to open the show to a sparse audience. Numbers were low, and aside from a minority, greatly uninterested. To make it worse, vocalist Niklas had a cold which was affecting his vocals. Nevertheless, any other band would have resigned themselves to getting the job done, but credit to Wolf who kept going and actually seemed to be having fun on their last show of the tour. The band's music is a traditional heavy metal worshipping meld of heavy and speed metal. Wolf were good to pass the time, but the growing audience only had one thing on their mind.

Accept. The venue might have seemed empty earlier in the night, but by the time Accept took the stage, the floor at the front was packed. Kicking off with a ride on the "Teutonic Terror", it was soon clear that this night was about to become something great. The band have a fantastic presence on stage, and even though there wasn't much communication with words between songs, there was certainly a strong musical connection going on between band and audience.



The setlist was strong, visiting the band's best albums most frequently. None of the songs dragged in any way, this was top quality entertainment from a band that have more experience than the vast majority of other metal bands in the world. The experience was clear, as the set ran extremely smoothly from one song to another with little chance to catch your breath. At a few points, Wolf and Peter showed their mastery of their instruments with a "solo battle" trying to "out-do" each other in a greatly entertaining and tasteful way without going on for too long.



Out of all the albums the band played songs from, the songs from the Breaker album sounded the best in this live environment, with the title track itself, "Son Of A Bitch" and "Burning". New singer Mark Tornillo's vocals sounded great and seemed to be a perfect fit to Accept's music, in the vein of his predecessor Udo. Accept together again seem revitalised with new energy and with a new life. This absolutely translated into the show, and gave the audience here an amazing show of hard rocking metal with a real spirit and attitude. Band and audience both left the venue in high spirits after this impressive show that won't be forgotten for a long time.
