Voted Disturbed even though its not really Nu Metal...
Not really Nu metal? What are they then? Hard rock? They sound pretty Nu to me...
Its hard to describe what they are, their first album "The Sickness" is the only one that you can argue to be Nu Metal really. From what I understand, Nu Metal is influenced by hip-hop and rap music (wikipedia backs me up as well). This sound is absent from their more recent releases of "Believe" and "Ten Thousand Fists".
Personally, i would classify them as Heavy Metal, however they could be Hard Rock as well.
I think the second album is pretty Nu Metal too. More into teh melacholic-romantic lyrics, which is very Nu Metal too (Take Chevelle for example)
I agree on Ten Thousnad Fists, it's more heavy metal, due the lyrics, more about politics and stuff, and the guitar solos.

Im not positive about this, but im pretty sure the lyrical content doesn't have anything to do with how a genre is defined.

I'll vote for Disturbed since I was a pretty big fan of them in 9th grade. They were among the first Metal bands that I got into and I owe them a debt. Listening to 'The Sickness' and 'Believe' still bring back memories of early high school to me, that are euphoric yet almost painful. Nothing more than teenage angst, as I can clearly see from this point in my life, but a part of my life nonetheless.

to the discussion above, metal definitions are NEVER based on lyrical content, except maybe in detail discussions about if something is grindcore, or goregrind, or porngrind or something like that, but the bigger genres, power, black, folk, viking, doom, thos genres are NEVER definied by lyrics, even though they often have very common and typical lyrical contents. it's the music that makes a musical genre
a shame that only the most wellknown bands are on this list, however anything else probably wouldnt make much sense
i voted for Linkin Park, i like hybrid theory and (even more) meteora a lot
and i'm not ashamed of it guys

I voted 'other' - Machine Head is my fave nu-metal band by a long way. Their songwriting and musicianship has come a hell of a long way in recent years, especially with some key personnel changes (*cough*Ahrue Luster*cough*). Plus their old stuff, Burn My Eyes especially, just doesn't get Old (pun intended).

For me the best Nu Metal bands are Ill Niño and Disturbed.. But I guess Disturbed is getting a little repetitive and overrated so I voted Others

I hate choosing between soad and korn. I like Korn much more, because Soad have some tracks with which I don,t enjoy at all. However, soad originality and creativity as well as the freshness that they have brought to the music community is totally awesome.

I voted Linkin Park because of their Hybrid Theory album. I loved it when it was released, and now that i say "nu sucks" it's perhaps the only nu metal album that i can listen to with some pleasure. :p

I chose Linkin Park
it was back in 7th grade haha, i didnt even listen to music, then a friend let me borrow a cd with random crap in it, the ONLY song that caught my attention was "In The End". and they were my favorite band for a while, then i started listening to non Nu Metal Bands, but they were still my fav band. when Minutes To Midnight came out, i practically stopped listening to them but w.e i bring up Hybrid Theory or Meteora every once in a great while

I had to vote for other for the fact that Spineshank was not on the list. They were pretty tolerable when I listened to them a long ass time ago.

SOAD is the best of them, but I don't really like any of them. I just dislike SOAD the least, and they have a few ok songs. The other bands pretty much suck the big donkey penis of ultra suckage that only ultra gay bands can even go within three kilometres of.

I like early Korn a lot and they were one of the first metal bands I was into, but i had to go with SOAD because they just had such a dynamic sound. The way they could go from heavy to light, and have political songs and some that were completely not serious was really great, if sometimes a little immature. And even though i like them less than I used to, they've held up much better than a lot of the nu metal i first listened to.

My vote is for Nonpoint, because I think they're technically Nu Metal. Pretty awesome North Florida band. They're hard rock/Nu metal/rap-rock/etc. Worth a listen over most of the bands on that list.

Wow, I really don't like the options
I despise 99% of Nu-Metal, But I do like Rage Against The Machine.....at least they stand for something, and the guitarist is unique in his style
