Mastodon definatley. I have never heard anything quite like them, they have their own sense about them that makes them so original and special.

nah, i just find you fail me to be a much better album in everyway. theres more variation in it, it takes a more emotional approach while still bordering grindcore a lot of the time and i just think the production is excellent. all the instruments seem to blend in together better than on jane doe. Yet, everyone seems to prefer JD and ive even heard people say that they sold out with the new album.

Converge Sold Out?... they're right though, i mean after all, seeing/hearing "eagles become vultures" on TRL is as common as Sober Indians...

Mastodon are the only new band I can think of that has their own style and isn't doing something that someone has already done.

Yeah, I forgot Mastodon completely ... they are indeed very original.

I don't really know that many bands and the list gets shorter if you ask me about new millenium metal bands. Still, one of the most original bands I've come to hear is Midnattsol.

They were formed back in 1991, but Sahara came out in 1996, so they really don't belong here

A good band is Gorath, and although the band got together in '96, they only released on demo in that year, and the next in '03, so basicly they're a band of the millenium; a pretty good BM band is Unholy Matrimony, formed in 2000, with two full length releases till today.

My band is the most original!!! - just kidding we're a garage band and know some Black Sabbath, Metallica, Helloween and Dream Theater covers

This is wierd. Some sources say Sahara was out in 1992, others Nov 30 1993 then there's a 1994 issue and so on... Tried visiting their website but it was getting through really slow so I gave up. Trve realease date on Sahara is yet to be revealed... But enough about them and I'll stick to the subject. One of the most unusual bands from 2000 that I know are Swallow the Sun. They say that out of all, doom metal is the most similar to the original template of Black Sabbath. I found Swallow The Sun to be very heavy listening. Wonder if they got their name from a Cemetary lyric?

After 2000 I cant think no band, ok one its Broken Dagger from sweden its like epic/speed/power/blackened metal, I open tread about them its in my profile,
Then Woods of Ypres from Canada great, poetic melodic black metal band

Sorry for not sharing my thoughts but I know little about the band except for their album Decrowning. They are definitly worth checking out.

I'll say Wintersun. They formed in 2004 and they make great music! we all agree about that, right?

From Quo Vadis first tow ar egreat, 3th(last) isn so good, thay had only 3 albums + DVD, best of and demo

The most talanted and original band is Riverside. Awsome progressive rock (sometimes metal) from Poland, wich was a surprise for me. If anyone like prog, try them, mostly their Second Life Syndrome album.

God Forbid and probably like a billion more.

I believe is Epica, but their last two albums were not so good, so instead them could be Amaran, they're OK.

An awsome band since 2000 is Darkspace, a sideproject of Tobias Möckl (Paysage d'Hiver). They released 2 full lenghts and working on the 3rd. Check it out ppl! and you'll be amazed
