Best-sounding band name

this topic is about everyone's favorite band name. it might sound cool, philosophical, or just plain "metal", name it.
my favorites are Rata Blanca(pronounced in the latin fashion like we romanians do it sounds pretty damn good, has like a special ring to it, though if i'm not mistaken it actually means "white rat" ), Iced Earth, it sounds pretty epic, the first time i heard it i imagined some kind of frozen tundra landscape, pretty much like in their self-titled song. also, 3 inches of blood sounds pretty close to their sound, very brutal, i got the image of some kind of medieval crusader slaughtering frenzy out of it. like i said, pretty close to their sound
don't forget to explain a little why you like some of these bandnames.

Black Sabbath - the original, the best! Of course, they got the idea for the bandname from the old horror film of the same title. When a band like Black Sabbath (and the aforementioned Judas Priest) is so well known, you don't really think much about the name, because people say it all the time. But when you take a moment to think about it objectively, you appreciate how interesting it sounds and how the meaning could be interpreted. Many bands have 'Black' or 'Dark' in their bandnames, but 'Black Sabbath' still sounds the most sinister IMO.

(a well known style of punk) Shoegaze (a kind of melodic soft music) Unblack metal (also known as 'black' metal, christian black metal or white metal) And a lot of made-up genres like Immortal darkart Blackness music Necrogoat metal which are usually made up by shitty wannabe black metal bands. On topic however, band names that sound awesome to me would be: Gospel Of The Horns Grand Belial's Key' I Shalt Become Insect Warfare Jungle Rot Limbonic Art Vacuum Era Gelid Atmosphere AKA (V.E.G.A.)

Best band names for me are: Dream Theater, because it sounds like anything seems possible in it. Mastodon, sounds like a name of giant metal beast. Also, I liked Metallica until Cliff Burton passed away, and I think their band name is really cool. Once you hear the name, you know what you are in for.

14.02.2009 - 08:26 Written by Metal_Militia on 15.01.2009 at 06:04 Basically all shitty, generic and thoughtless names like that just gives me a headache. Pretty much all of those Core names too. "Die for life, tripping in dog shit, flailing romantically" thoughtless, crap sounding names like that. Personally, I like names with meaning to the music, and simply roll off of the tongue. Such as Ensiferum, Septic Flesh, Behemoth, Cynic, Equilibrium, Limbonic Art, Martriden, Iskald, etc. Some of those meaningless ones are okay too, that sound like they were created by a J.R.R Tolkien fanatic.

Look at how cool i am. I like a band named Septic Flesh"......meh, thats was stupid man, back it up. Septic Flesh doesnt roll offf the tounge.

Fates Warning, is the kind of shit name that I hear every single day at my school by emo fags chanting when they're practicing their roundhouse kicks. Anyway, to each their own. I think they just suck ass.

Ive never heard some kid walking around taking credit for a band that hold so much weight like fates warning who basically fronted along with Queensryche the birth of progressive metal. Kids arent that sophisticated when im comes to metal like that these days. But i have seen kids walking around like "oh my god slipknot and mushroomhead are so hard core dude, im gonna claim i like bands that scare off all the preps and jocks to prove my individuallity and by the way, septic flesh sounds cool too man how scary, hoy hoy." get outta here man.

Ok, this may be out of thread... i think that one-word bandnames are very good, and makes u even very curious or very shoked, like Rage Death Tool Down Grave Pain Agalloch Nirvana when u listen to those oneword bands the first time, u just have the feeling that it's incomplete, u always focus and expect to hear more, n hope the band to be brilliant and blow ur mind, bcz the name is short, and may have that metal feel and the wide and big meaning like Death, Rage........... i like that kind of feeling, maybe others don't, cz the big fuck is when the band suck... on the other hand, when u first listen to a two or three words bands, u somehow feel a kind of relax, like Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse Eternal tears of sorrow, Cradle of filth, My dying bride...and it's kind of ""Ok, the band knows what they're doing, it's very clear"" offcourse it's not necessary of all bandnames, but this what often happens with me... anyway, that was out of thread, my best sounding bandnames are, Emperor, Death. even the name Muse (rock band) is very good

17.02.2009 - 20:36 Written by Abattoir on 16.02.2009 at 10:09 Apparently it means "where are you going"! For one-word bandnames, I always thought the British Death Metal band called Cancer had a very effective name. It's very simple, but the word 'Cancer' is quite powerful, as most people are pretty terrified of it and it affects so many people. Some people even seem to be scared of using the word, and use phrases like 'the big C.' instead. So it's quite shocking and gets a reaction, without being OTT and silly.
