But lets talk about some important albums in history of metal like Iron Maiden's Iron Maiden which is a masterpiece for sure, those melodic guitars with Paul's strong vocals and Steve's unique bass sound. A masterpiece instrumental song like "Transylvania" or one of the best ballads of metal ever like "Remember Tomorrow" and yes born of NWOBHM maybe.
Or take a look at Metallica's Kill 'Em All album and born of thrash metal. A brutal instrumental song by adorable Cliff Burton . And songs like "The Four Horseman" or "Seek and Destroy" ...
Godfathers of metal Black Sabbath started with Black Sabbath in 1970 and made the history of metal with songs like "Black Sabbath" and "N.I.B" and brought us doom and heavy metal.
I can talk a lot and mention a lot of other albums but its better to see what you think all?

Could compile a pretty lengthy list of debuts... will just go with one for now, probably my favorite metal album: Ulver - Bergtatt. Great evolution of music within the album itself, starting nice and breezy and ending in a thunderstorm of black metal fury.

01.08.2010 - 18:09 Written by Elyar S. on 01.08.2010 at 18:00 I agree on Hellhammer. Their sound was much more close to black metal, even if they were essentially sludgier, dissonant basic speed metal riffs. Essentially not much skill at all, but historically significant, I guess.

Agalloch - Pale Folklore is one of the best debuts ever when it comes to folk metal and maybe the best folk metal debut of USA ever. They have nordic blood for sure recently Ive read or watched an interview about it, I think the interviewer said that "if you were in Europa you would be more successful" and Im agree. I dont remember where they were recently in Europa, anyway Im talking about that interview

I agree with Kill Em' All from Metallica, Dave Mustaine wrote this amazing solos and riffs, and it just sounds amazing, I also like Iron Maiden's self titled debut, that album got me hooked. The Phantom Of The Opera maybe the best metal song i've ever heard. Megadeth's debut Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good! is also probably one of my favorite debuts by a band, that album is absolutely amazing! The guitar work is flawless, just listen to the opener and than you'll get a glimpse of how talented those guys are. Probably the must underated debut in my collection is probably Burn My Eyes by Machinehead, that album is a gem also, great songwriting material there for sure.

My favorite Debuts are : Process of Guilt - Renounce How this album paved the way for the masterpiece Erosion is just amazing . and since I heard Erosion before the debut I did not actually expect something as good those post\metal bands just keep bringing the freshness to metal Alcest - Le Secrete An unbelievable release that shows the BM side of Alcest more than the other release does Moonspell - Wolfheart The first somehow extreme album I have heard , and still it plays sometimes on my player Burzum - Burzum Though it seems that everyone hates Varg's vox on this release I always enjoy them Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus The most influential of them all Mar De Grises - The Tatterdemalion Express Fresh , Emotional , Brilliant I know I left out many important releases but these are the albums that jumped into my mind for now

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness It's an absolutely phenomenal album that is still one of my favorites to this day. With tracks like Chapel of Ghouls, Maze of Torment and Visions from the Dark Side, it's almost impossible to not think this album had a huge role in defining the death metal sound and genre.

For me the best debut album will always be "Kill 'em all". The title says it all. The Four Horsemen are pulling teeth, whiplashing and seeking and destroying. But I also like: AC/DC-High Voltage In Flames-Lunar Strain HIM-Greatest Lovesong Vol. 666 Rammstein-Herzeleid

Winterburst's self titled demo. I know this is not really an album but I don't know where else to talk about this amazing new band. These guy's are a melo-death band from France and I must say that I was amazed at how fucking awesome the demo is! IMO it's the best debut since wintersun. http://www.myspace.com/winterburst Check out the're myspace and give the're songs a good listen. I promise that you won't be disappointed

Aside from the obvious choices from Megadeth, Mercyful Fate, Venom, Yngwie, etc that were all already big hitters when I started my metal years, a few debuts that I'll always remember: Fear Of God's "Within The Veil" was refreshing In the mid-90s Grip Inc's "Power of Inner Strength" gave me hope that the thrashy 1980's music might return, but it wasn't to be Lord Weird Slough Feg's awesome debut - I really hoped they'd keep that awesome sound and bouncy tunes I still remember the initial thrill of how awesome Testament's "The Legacy" was, though it had a couple filler tracks Death Angel's "The Ultra-Violence" was a ripping debut I didn't acquire "Forbidden Evil" until quite recently, and continue to be amazed by it
