2011 set big expectations for Megadeth for that year and for 2012. After huge "Big 4" shows, the return of Dave Ellefson and "the kiss and make up" between Dave Mustaine, Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield, finally two of the pioneers of thrash metal, Megadeth and Metallica are together. Certainly Th1rt3en is a great way to show the good vibes they are transmitting since 2010.

I thought Millenium of the Blind became something on The World Needs a Hero...
And New World Order isn't good enough to ever put on an album
Haven't heard Black Swan or Sudden Death, so I guess they're new to me.
A little hesitant after the joke that was Endgame, though.

I thought Millenium of the Blind became something on The World Needs a Hero...

It did. The riff at the beginning was used as the intro riff to "1000 Times Goodbye". Hopefully that riff has now been removed from "Milennium Of The Blind" so it can become a unique song in it's own right.

And New World Order isn't good enough to ever put on an album

I have to totally disagree with that, it's a fantastic song! The end solo in that song is actually one of my fave ever solos by Dave. I wonder if Dave will change the lyrics though, as the original's lyrics were written by Nick Menza... lol

"Black Swan" is great! "Sudden Death" is okay, but it suffers from the "solos for it's own sake", feel that a lot of the songs on "Endgame had.

Here is another new song "Never Dead"! The sound quality isn't great, but the song sounds awesome! Better than "Public Enemy No.1" in my humble opinion. lol xD

For some reason, when I heard the chorus I was thinking this is what Green Day would probably sound like if they decided to start making metal....

The song has a very punky vibe to it, and it's not bad at all... I think 13 will be better than the last 2 albums at least.

Well, the last 2 albums aren't that bad, I just don't think they were that great either, and both are overrated. Especially "Endgame".

Geez, I've gone from "liking everything any band has ever made" to "not liking anything"... you gotta love people's baseless outlandish assertions. *shakes head*

I'm not a "hater" at all! I've taken quite a lot of flak on these boards for defending certain albums that I love, but I guess honesty isn't something that's appreciated from most "fans". Cos if you don't agree with them, then your opinion just sucks. I personally love "The System Has Failed" an album that most people probably think is weaker than the last two albums, but I don't care, to me it's a great album! I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't hate the last 2 albums, far from it. I just don't think they're amazing albums either. *shrugs*

I think the same way of The System Has Failed, see? ...that's tastes...but one thing is: to don't like an album and don't gave it a good reason to hate it (that put's me on my nerves), in the other hand we have the famous "Reviews" ...even if those reviews don't came out like we want...what i mean is...i hate people that hates an album, without justify that "hate"...if you know what i mean! I like constructive opinions! (sorry for my english)

Ive just finished listening to the whole album, and it is pretty disappointing. So many of the songs lack any real intensity or energy, or even the memorable hooks that made the equally un-thrash "Youthanasia" so great. How can a song called "Fast Lane" be so lacking in speed and ferocity? Okay, the speed picks up during the last 30 seconds, but it just made me wish that the whole song was like that! And some of the lyrics are really cringeworthy, I mean the lyrics to "Wrecker" which are presumably about a homewrecker (?!), just sound very basic and quite immature. C'mon Dave, you used to display an awesome flair for wordplay!

On the plus side, "Millennium Of The Blind" has finally been fleshed out into a full song, and it's pretty great! They also wisely ditched the riff that was later used for "1000 Times Goodbye" that was in the shorter demo version. It's also telling that a song that wasn't considered worthy enough for inclusion on "Countdown To Extinction" or "Youthanasia" ("New World Order") is easily one of the best songs on the new album. The re-recording of "Black Swan" is inferior to the original, as the songs' great signature riff has been completely removed, so very bad move there!

Dave and Megadeth sound really tired here, as musically and lyrically the album is lacking in both bite and excitement. Most of the songs I had already heard prior to the album's release are a lot better than most of the ones I hadn't heard. "Deadly Nightshade" is a nice crunchy little number though, even if it does remind me slightly of "Cyanide" by Metallica... And where's David Ellefson's bass? I can barely hear it!

This isn't a bad album by any means, but Megadeth are capable of much better than this...

Silly lyrics is not something new for Megadeth.

True enough, although before it was just like an odd song here or there that had bad lyrics. Now, they are mostly immature, poorly written, and/or are just silly. Add onto this the music lacking in Megadeth's classic complexity, and it just feels flat and uninspired overall.
