What do you guys think of these guys? I had a hard time getting into them, but I finally gave them a chance, and I thought they were pretty good. So I went out and bought Turn Loose The Swans and Like Gods Of The Sun, both amazing doom albums, one of the best ive ever heard. Which album(s) should I buy next? And are there any albums I should just avoid? Thanks alot.

Pioneers of British Doom and one of my favourite bands ever, IMO Turn Loose The Swans is their best album, you can actually feel the bride walking beside you and ensuring she dosent reach there. I was a little disappointed with A Line Of Deathless Kings their latest effort. Hoping they release some really nice material.

For My Fallen Angel is another great song.....it is just perfect when you are suffering....helps you to cry yourself empty......already experienced it...that is for example a reason why MDB is personally quite close to me.....

Damn, this songs is sooooooooo sad... It makes me cry whenever I listen to it. The most depressive song I've ever heard...

I've been listening to MDB for more than a year but recently I started to listen to them more seriously... Album by album..
Well, I don't like "As Flowers Withers" at all.. Dunno why exactly.. maybe because it's too Death and less Doom?...
Their latest album also made me a little disappointed.. : There are some very good songs like "Thy Raven Wings" and "To Remain Tombless"... But still this album is weaker than others IMO... :
"Like Gods Of The Sun", "The Light At The End Of The World", "Dreadful Hours", "Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light", "Turn Loose The Swans" and "The Angel And The Dark River" are perfect...
Impressive band.

Btw, does anyone knows who exactly writes the lyrics?? :

I love 'Like Gods...' the most; I just have a sentiment to this album
and I've fallen in love in this, what Aaron doing on the stage during concerts... it's amazing and very impressive...
I saw them 24.03 at Metalamania Fest [PL], they played about 3-4 a.m., everybody was tired and sleepy after 20 concerts before but I dryed up heh
I'm so happy that I saw them; I have photo with Aaron and autographs of each member

They use to be one of my favorite bands, I just like their sound and atmosphere they are creating, all albums are perfect but Angel And The Dark River is a real masterpiece. All songs are awesome, fucking awesome, and the sound on that album, that album is classic. Last album is also pretty good, not to much different if you ask me. I will strive to catch them alive soon, I had few chances and I missed them...

My favourite band by far...seriously love the hell out of these guys. Own pretty much everything by them. Plus my signed poster is awesome. Saw them at Bloodstock last year some time and they absolutly blew me away. Aaron was just wondering to during the day so had a bit of a chat with him. Again legendary guy. One of my favourite vocalists.

I would definatly reccomend The Dreadfull Hours or the latest A Line of Deathless Kings. Though in all honesty every album by them has its good (and a few bad...but hardly any) points.
If you want a more guitar orientated albums then go for those 2.
Songs of Darkness and Turn Loose the Swans is good for the more dooooom of us.
And for those in love with the violin I'd say The Angel and The Dark River and Like Gods of The Sun

The Flower Withers is good for all (Early) Paradise Lost fans.

Superb band. Nuff said. Aaron Stainthorpe is a musical genius.

i agree about 34.788%... Complete its a very gothic album and the one poor album they ever released... But that album has been followed up with doom metal masterworks "The Light at the end of the world" a great return to form, the songs on the album present the listener with a dark choaking atmoshpere you could drown in... then came "The Dreadful Hours" and album with such amazing atmosphere and lyrics... but their best album was "Songs of Darkness, Words of Light" the song stay with you, its dark, weel written musically with great lyrics, and great atmosphere...

My Dying Bride is one of my favourite bands ever. I started listening to them in 2004/2005, when I bought 'Songs of Darkness, Words of Light'. I was too young to 'understand' their music and I didn't like them too much. But, right now, I like their sound and all they releases, even '34.788%...Complete' that most of fans hate it.
