Most memorable? To be honest, the intro to "The Art of Spiritual Purification" by Nattefrost.
It's the guy throwing up for half the track...not exactly something that goes away easily...

Material World Paranoia - Kreator has my favorite intro ever.. It makes me really paranoid!!

Tyven by Moonsorrow it's some of the best stuff ever.

Gamma Ray's "Dethrone Tyranny" is one that comes to mind right away. im half baked, im sure i'll find others later.

Moonsorrow have looooong and epic intros, but you can hardly pinpoint when it ends, cause some of their tracks are so atmospheric. I guess an intro ends with the first vocals (except narration...). Then, one of the best intros ever must be on Tulimyrsky, by Moonsorrow. Other great ones are on Victory Song (Ensiferum) an Ocean Land (Orphaned Land).

Anorexia Nervosa - Mother Anorexia (short start with keys and than so powerful continue)

Saxon - Deamon Sweeney Todd (I think that the intro riff in this song of the best I have heard lately)

Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast (well, who doesn't like this one )

When I think about an intro, it's always Metallica's "Battery." I don't know if it's the best, but it's definitely the most memorable.

Naaah, not the best intro... But It's just way too classic to not be in at least one post in the three pages. That's the thing. I'm not THAT interested in Motörhead right now... But it surprises me that none put it.

My favorite intros or the most memorable in my memory are:

Death - Scavenger Of Human Sorrow (mind-blowing everytime I listen to it!)
Metallica - Master Of Puppets (Same as Scavenger)
Opeth - The Moor (Oh sweet, long and lovely annoying intro hehehe)
Slayer - Raining Blood (O sweet, thrasy and lovely raining intro hehehe)

And my favorite of all times
Rhapsody - Lux Triumphans/Dawn Of Victory!!! (Rhapsody's intros are always sooo epic hehehe).

"Sacraments of the final atrocity" intro from Abazagorath. Really powerful. What do you think?
