Which of those bands can you say that you thoroughly enjoy every album.
I love Black Sabbath but I don't really rate any of the albums after the Gillan one, and I think Never Say Die is great.
The big 4 of thrash have all had some albums that many would agree were terrible compared to their best, maybe I could argue that Slayer havent.
Of course bands cant make every album the same and their artistic expression changes so that we may no longer revere their work, but everyone has those bands that they beleive have never created anything but excellence.
I propose Judas Priest and Sodom.
Who do you propose, remembering a minimum of 6 studio albmus for the band to be eligible.

Hum, let's see... Iron Maiden can't make the cut because of Virtual Eleven and Dances Of Death Skyclad might have... until In The... All Together Paradise Lost fall short too, 'cause there's this stupid Believe In Nothing. No Dream Theater either. Not that they really released a crap album, but Falling Into Infinity, Train Of Thought and A Dramatic Turn Of Event are really borderline as far as crap is concerned. Won't mention Kreator either, as I don't like their earlier works - but I do love Outcast and Endorama. And Moonspell fails because of Darkness And Hope, while Alchemist have their first two releases... Orphaned Land and Textures are only at four, Coroner and Esoteric at five. Enslaved I can't say, still haven't listened to some of their early works. But all I know is pretty damn good. Same goes for Symphony X. Dark Tranquillity never disappointed me so far. Some albums are weaker, sure, but not bad per se. So there's one. Nevermore never release a bad album either, even if Enemies Of Reality and The Obsidian Conspiracy border on average. We've got two.

22.11.2011 - 14:16 Written by Darkside Momo on 22.11.2011 at 13:55 "Cause For Conflict" is the messiest Kreator album. I do prefer it over "Outcast", however. "Outcast" is okay, about a handful of the songs on it I really like, and the rest is just throwaway stuff for me. lol

22.11.2011 - 14:26 Written by Darkside Momo on 22.11.2011 at 14:19 It sounds like a band who's lost it's way a bit. As if they're stuck between experimentation, and their old thrash sound. "Endorama" and "Renewal" are better, way more consistent albums, as they're focussed. CFC is a very confused album I think... some awesome songs like "Catholic Despot" and "Sculpture Of Regret" though!

22.11.2011 - 14:51 Written by Darkside Momo on 22.11.2011 at 14:02 The band are now at six, so they can be considered. Epistemological Despondency The Pernicious Enigma Metamorphogenesis Subconscious Dissolution into the Continuum The Maniacal Vale Paragon of Dissonance even though some consider Metamorphogenesis an e.p. it clocks in at 45 minutes and is also considered a full length by the band themselves. And seeing five of the releases are 2CD we could almost say the band has released 11 albums

True, it could be argued that ASF is a dud. I personally enjoyed it, but it definitely doesn't have that more universal appreciation factor that AtHoW does.

I cannot honestly think of any bands that have never disappointed me. Opeth come close, but I am not a big fan at all of Watershed or Heritige. Nightwish has never released an awful album, but the difference between their Oceanborn/Wishmaster operatic era of greatness and the commercial stuff that followed is obvious. Ayreon again, doesn't have any bad albums, but has a couple of "meh" albums.

24.11.2011 - 16:24 Written by ANGEL REAPER on 22.11.2011 at 02:27 I strongly disagree that Pure Holocaust and Battles In The North are weak. Pure Holocaust might be a little overrated, but that doesn't mean it's weak. It just doesn't give you what you expect from it. Battles, on the other hand, is a foundation in black metal IMO. I place it next to At The Heart Of Winter, which is my favorite Immortal album by far (My all time favorite too. ). Diabolical could be thought of as weak, mainly because it's their debut, and at that time, they haven't developed their signature sound that appears the first time on Battles (I don't mean their thrashy style, I mean the frostbitten black metal gimmick with Abbath's croaky vocals.). However, I don't view Diabolical as a dud. IMO it's a solid slab of kvlt black metal.

24.11.2011 - 20:46 Written by Oaken on 24.11.2011 at 16:24 I personally enjoyed it but I can see why others wouldn't. The production alone makes for a less "raw" feel, it doesn't contain the same majestic atmosphere of AtHoW, and a lot of the songs sound rather similar. After the first two songs the quality takes a noticeable dive as well.
