Well i hope im not the only one here that don't agree with democratic system, for Democracy is alsmot same as any otehr system that gives ppl freedom
but one thing i really dislike in this syste are Elctions, how can u count vote fo some doctor, some inginier or some magister same as vote of some village man whos knows shit about politic, and knows nothing about anythign that ain't related wiht hes work at village
and also they count vote os man who dunno how to read or how to wrrite same as vote of doctors and inginiers and learned ppl
whats youre opinion about this

Well, you would not know of any military bases in your country unless some countrymen who live in hills or something tell you about it (or if you're a fan of Google earth ) .. keep gliding over czech and you'll occasionally find grids of black-rectangles .. usually in a non-populated area .. that my friend, is a military base anyways, the point of posting this photo of the 'American Empire" is to show that democracy can be flawed sometimes (dont get me wrong, i'm no communist .. and i think democracy is the best of the currently available 'systems') however its often flawed, and not being 'peaceful and civilized' and it can be as ruthless and barbaric as any religious radical governmental system. EDIT: i checked; and the only US military forces in Czech are the NATO forces. oh, and there was an agreement between USA and Czech to install military radar for missile-detection but Czech eventually refused (after initially accepting) PS: your neighbor, Germany, has more than 50,000 American soldiers stationed in.

Canada has American presence by choice, of course...not by force...don't forget, we burned their White House down and we will do it again if they fuck with us...AND we'll take away their soft wood and water...we hold the strings of these puppets, you know...

It says there that there are US Military bases in The Netherlands... that is not the case. There used to be one but that one was dismantled way before 2000

20.10.2010 - 20:38 Written by Zombie on 20.10.2010 at 20:30 Of course there are because the US are part of NATO. there are also Turkish troops, German troops etc here as PART of NATO. Just like there are Dutch troops all over the world as part of NATO. Btw I don't have any problems with foreign troops here since they help out the Dutch troops. Having problems with that is some sort of misplaced pride imo.

I don't have problems with foreign troops in my country too, what i have problem with is foreign military bases in my country, and dedication of lands, beaches, and roads specifically for those foreign troops. who btw, don't 'help' us. we're fine without them really and we're not in war with anybody.

So, how about this Wikileaks thing ? should we say goodbye democracy already ? i was shocked with the feeble attempt of an accusation of Julian as a rapist, and from what, SWEDEN ! one of the -supposedly- least corrupted countries in the world.

The "world being corrupt' and USA being not less of a fascist than Nazi Germany is all old news, agreed. but that Wikileaks thing's got some pretty interesting shit, i mean Uranium was stolen from libyan Nuclear reactors and smuggled abroad, Sarkouzy saying that he would never allow 75 million muslims to join the EU (meaning Turkey), Hilary Clinton asked US diplomats to spy on their counterparts .. lol now THAT is entertainment !!

Sounds like a conversation in a church between the choir, while utilizing reaction formation. What is essentially a "democracy"? Do you have any significant definition of the term "democracy" to turn this conversation into somewhat meaningful?

Well, since the definition of 'definition' itself is an understanding or a meaning that most people agree upon to be the most accurate... so in a discussion like the one we're having, we dont need to define democracy, as it is a common understanind that we're taking about 'mainstream' straight-forward meaning of democracy and not any other minor definition to it.

@Zombie An empty circular definition. I doubt you have any idea yourself you know what your talking about. Actually what you doing is -rhetorical patting on the back- of each other with this "common understanding". "democracy is dead" - yeah, they make propaganda" - "they are actually fascists". Words are not defined by common understanding, but by usage in context (are you interested in political theory or Political philosophy which use the term?). Dictionary researchers are not law givers, but historians of usage of words in context (unlike what many Americans think). Your usage of terms here, is as follows; As pointed out by Orwell, some terms turn into Orwellian terms. Affective connotations (i.e. which hold no informative role, but emotional and from here normative) as thought stoppers ("your a fascist!") and rhetorical patting on the back between church friends ("god is great, isn't he?" - "sure he is"). You use them as rhetorical bashing tools, and (in future) will try to rationalize the term(s) to fit your prejudices (~"a democracy is where human rights are not hurt"). Somewhat like astrology or other types or charlatans. There are always right, since it's so vague and ambiguous you can always redefine them term to fit. But what does democracy mean in politics? Until you will not define democracy in any meaningful way, the conversation will lack any depth whatsoever or you can just continue complementing each other which has nothing to do with "democracy" (the political term). Have you never argued with someone while misunderstanding what he was actually meaning by his usage of words? I can bet you did (overwhelmingly most of us did). There are no conversations as far as my experience goes that are meaningful before terms are clarified (except by mistake/chance). By the way, I could not believe why people put down Fox News so much. A few weeks ago I watched it for the first proper time - I was shocked...How can someone actually take this channel seriously?

Hej folks! sorry for a quite off-topic intrusion, as my first post after years of absence, but one of our French deputies just died from a severe cancer at the age of 51 and I'd like to pay a little tribute for he was the only political metalhead and a true defensor of democracy: he came to the Parliament brandishing a French metal magazine to speak for our major festival: Hellfest (who was strongly attacked by catholic morons (I'm saying this as a Christian myself, it's not against catholics in general, but those were totally retarded), he defended the liberty for internet etc... His name was Patrick Roy and he was a socialist, what I am not but still, I do respect it a lot even if I don't quite respect democracy: it takes some balls to speak about metal et French metal bands in front of a Parliament who kinda thinks that the Rolling Stones are the epitome of brutality... I come to believe some righteous people can justify a concept I don't believe in (such as democracy)...
