At the graves?

lol

Ya, perhaps they named themselves after the King Diamond track?

Or they really like At The Gates.

Found this nice little psychedelic/stoner demo: http://diazepam.bandcamp.com/

Chunky riffs, nice groove, solid growls, simple compositions, and a bit Sabbath-y.

"Author & Punisher is an industrial doom and drone metal, one man band utilizing primarily custom fabricated machines/controllers and speakers called Drone/Dub Machines. The devices draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation, robotics and mechanical tools and devices, focusing on the eroticism of the interaction with machine."

He calls it Industrial doom, i dunno cuz its too Breakcore-ish.

Drone metal my ass (from that song anyway). Sounds like boring, ordinary industrial to me.

He has an older album on bandcamp which has a few drone-ish songs. Largely though it sounds to me like he's making more out of the sound than it really is, the unusual methods he employs not really achieving anything that different.

A band called GGUW released a very short EP this year, not the most original thing but still there is something special with it. Very good stuff! Gotta love the cover art too.

Was trawling through Metal Archives for 2012 releases from the UK and I stumbled on this (one of the very few noteworthy things I found) and then I realised it's actually from the town I live in. Basically some kind of avant-garde industrial extreme metal. Pretty interesting stuff, their bandcamp can be found here.

New promo track for Horseback's upcoming album: Half Blood. From the sound of it, it'll probably among the highligts of the year.

Holy shit this is amazing! They have another album released too right? "Invisible Mountain".

Checked on M/A, nothing about these guys on there. Any idea why?

Uh, something about them not being metal. I dunno, I always thought of them as a drone band but I don't know enough about that stuff to be honest. Joe could tell you more.

Not on MA, but On BC and right here on MS. I think thought MS has the line up wrong. From the two albums I have, it seems like a one man project with different collabs on each albums. Invisible Mountain was released back in 2010

Personally, I think it's more in the line of Post progressive rock with black elements taking more or less importance depending on the song. Then again, this all Post thing seems like a mash up of very different sounding band, so I dunno.

Oxymoron alert: How can it be post something whilst progressing it? =P

At any rate Horseback are a difficult one. I rather go with a combination of drone and psychedelic rock / metal than post rock.

I don't think the structure is defined enough to be called stoner. Even the haziest, most psychedelic stoner band has some pretty clear riff style structuring going on which Horseback don't really have.

I really don't hear any stoner in Horseback at all. I agree with what JOOE says on the structure of Horseback's music.
Btw, nowadays I see people calling sludge bands stoner. There is a huge difference between the two.

I now officially resign from genre definitions. Not my cup of tea. Her we have an instru band that is just stunning in its beauty and simplicity. Metal, Rock? I don't know. you can always move the post in the prog rock reccomendation if it's more fitting.

Sounds interesting, and being Australian I'll definitely give them a go.

Initially it was the beyond cool album cover that attracted me to this one but here's some really heavy doom:

Good album that ^

Just so it's here, the best song of the debut EP by Vattnet Viskar. Great atmospheric black metal that's much more rough round the edges than most atmos-rubbish these days:
