Ooh me too, it's been two years since TGE so it's about time although I know they have had problems with illnesses and stuff...

Well either way, they are planning on releasing a live DVD soon which should be good

i would like to see a new DragonForce album, but as they only make one each 2 years, bah...

Amorphis
This is not exactly my favorite band, but the new vocalist is really talented and I'd like to hear more about what Amorphis has recently been up to. Last year I almost accidentally bought Eclipse because I thought it should be a nice album, and it was, so I must also try the album that follows next. Only this year I have some expectations.

Anathema - Everything
This is exactly my favorite band, so it's also the album that I'm expecting the most. I have listened to the title track many many times and it's one of their best songs, also I've heard some of their new ones live and liked them. The band members have said that Everything is going to be the album of their lives... so yeah, that's really exciting. I really enjoy the modern style of this band, I hope they're not releasing a metal album.

Antimatter - Leaving Eden
This is going to be an interesting album because Duncan Patterson won't be around anymore. I heard this material will be more rock-oriented than the previous Antimatter albums, but still sustaining the familiar calm atmosphere. This band (yeah, this time it should sound more like a band, not just Mick Moss) is really good at composing songs with acoustic guitars and strings.

Ayreon
I'm not even sure if the album is coming out this year, but whenever it's released I will get it as soon as I can. I expect it to be something special, again.

Dark Tranquillity - Fiction
Character was alright, maybe this will be too.

Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli
It has been a long time since I considered Dimmu Borgir as one of my favorite bands, so it's more about interest. At least this band is always changing and I like to be surprised, also it's about time they will release new material instead of remastering old albums.

Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
I expect this to be huge. Octavarium was perfect and this better be at least close to that.

Elend - A World in Their Screams
I got what is released from the "Wind's Cycle" albums so far and this is the third part, also what is said to be the most extreme Elend music since the Umbersun. The two albums I have are something unforgettable and I can't wait to hear more.

Evergrey
This is supposed to be released in May, even though nothing about is has been revealed yet, other than it's promised to be the heaviest and darkest Evergrey album so far. Monday Morning Apocalypse was really hard to get into and I still don't like it as a whole, so I really hope I didn't lose this band. The new album (these guys are really fast songwriters) better make up for what Evergrey partially failed to do last year.

Gamma Ray - The Land of the Free part two
That album title explains everything so I don't have to tell you what I expect from them. Majesty was not really the best album of 2005, but a nice one anyways.

Iced Earth - The Framing Armageddon
Concerning another one of my favorite bands I really don't want to be disappointed. Jon Schaffer and the band has succeeded every time and he wants the world to hear this new work of his ambition. The revealed song titles alone are enough to promise me an album of the year, especially when it's a continuing theme again (as what Gamma Ray is doing). I hope Tim Owens has learned from criticism and has brought some variation into his vocals, which is the biggest thing I'm worried about here. Although I have a feeling this will not go wrong.

King Diamond - Gimme Your Soul... Please
I'm not the biggest fan, but this could be interesting.

Nevermore

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Plant
I enjoyed the latest two albums so if this one follows the same theme, I will be happy. Porcupine Tree is slowly becoming one of my favorite bands so I hope the new album won't ruin that, though I don't believe that will happen.

Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement
This is a really promising progressive rock band, I can't wait to hear what their third album is going to be like. I hope they do something daring, because Second Life Syndrome was not really much different from the debut album, it only did the familiar thing better than before. I don't have an idea of what this new album is said to be like, only the title so far, and the September release date which seems a bit far.

Sonata Arctica - Unia
I never guessed I would say this, but I want to know what this band is doing. Back when I thought that Dimmu Borgir was cool I was also a Sonata Arctica fan. I've discovered so many new bands since then that I almost forgot about these guys. At least it's going to be interesting, maybe even enjoyable.

Behemoth - The Apostasy

Its gonna be HUGGGE...watching those recording diary vids blew me away its going to be one of the best of the year.


Wintersun - Time

The album that will make or break this year for me....its the most highly anticipated album for me for years probably. Im pretty confident that Jari wont fuck it up so im excited


Kalmah - TBA

I dont know if its just a rumour, cozz not even on their homepage does it say anytyhing about a new album, but its under "upcoming albums" on MS so who knows....if it is true then great! Yet its merely a year since the last release so its probably a bit early and worrying me a bit.


Sonata Arctica - Unia

Hmm im kinda over powermetal but Im always interested in what some of my past favourite bands get up to. Hope its better than the mediocre "Reckoning Night"

I was highly anticipating the new Manowar...but it sort of let me down in a way.

But im litterally counting down the days till the new Turisas album comes out.

It wold have to be Wintersun or Nightwish's new albums...CAN'T WAIT! & of course H.I.M.'s new album!

I was excited for the new Wintersun to come out, until it was delayed again until next year. Still, I'm most excited to hear the new Dream Theater, Symphony X, and (if it's this year) Opeth albums.

I guess I'm the only person here waiting for the new Endstille album.

wow, not sure what I was thinking on my original posts in this thread - missed a couple albums i knew were coming out and was eagerly awaiting.

Jesu- Conqueror - lived up to my expectations
Neurosis - Given to the Rising - exceeded, will likely be my 'album of the year.'
Samael - Solar Soul - not as good as "Passage", but easily their best work in a decade
Red Harvest - A Greater Darkness - was ok.

Surprises -

Behemoth - "the Apostasy" - I thought "Demigod" was ok- vocals were a bit overprocessed, overdone. Didn't really catch with me. "The Apostasy" has.

Clutch - "Beale Street to Oblivion" - hadn't listened to Clutch in way too long (early '94). Wow. Going to buying some of the albums I should have years ago.

The AE cd will be very good. I have heard the demos and they are in general better than doomsday machine. that may be because I am bored of doomsday, but the new cd will be good.
