I thought about making this poll a long time ago, but I hesitated because I can't make up my mind. The debuts from Megadeth and Metallica are really good, but I'm especially fond of the first albums of Anthrax and Slayer. Fistful of Metal is one my favorite albums from them because it's extemely fast, catchy, and energetic, with great songs such as Deathrider and Metal Thrashing Mad. The riffs and solos are great, the drumming is fast, the vocals are insane, and the bass lines are awesome. However, Slayer's Shown No Mercy is also an amazing album... maybe my second favorite from them. All the songs are very catchy and inspired, with amazing riffs and solos. The drumming is a little bland, but the guitar work makes up for any downfalls. uuuuuhhhh... I think I'll vote for Slayer.

I'd say "Kill 'em All...And Business is Good" since Mustaine wrote both CDs!! Dave & Megadeth all the way! Metallica has great music too, but they are such whiners.

Mustaine co-wrote four songs on Metallica's debut, not all of it.

Jump in the Fire

Phantom Lord
Metal Militia

There's a big difference between "writing" and "co-writing" (not that i'm trying to teach you english or anything )

Exacly. It's so immensely annoying this Dave Mustaine worship at times. Hell some people even think he was an original member. he didn't even play on Metallica's first recorded song ever. Hit The Lights on Metal Massacre I had Lloyd Grant on it instead of Mustaine. Only the version of Hit The Lights on the second pressing of the album had Mustain on it for some weird reason.

Well thats because Dave Mustiane was the best songwriter in Metallica, he did write four songs off of Kill Em All, he even wrote the songs "Ride The Lightnig" and "Call of Ktulu". On the No Life Til Leather demo tape which Mustiane played on there was the song "Mechanix" which he wrote, and when he got kicked out of Metallica, James changed it to "The Four Horsemen".

Kill 'Em All - regardless of who wrote it or co-wrote it or whatever, it has the best music of all of them in my opinion. Slayer and Megadeth's are damn fine as well too.

Really quite sad actually. I mean, I absolutely love Anthrax, and their debut is fucking great. But when you pin it up against these 3 other monsters, well...

After their first two releases, I thought Anthrax took a major dive in quality. Nothing they've done since approaches that quality.

Which I guess can be said for the other big four. After the first 2-3 albums, wtf did they do? I think Slayer is the only name that still holds relevance these days.

As for best debut... either Kill 'Em All or Show No Mercy. Almost too hard to decide though.

Ok Marcel, you're right! Dave didn't wrote the whole album, but acording to (as seen on Get Thrashed) Scot Ian and Megadave himself there's no thrash metal at all without Dave Mustaine so...Dave rules all over the creatioooooooon! please give it up and worship Dave!! hahaha. Saludos brother hehehe

I remember really liking the songs off of Show No Mercy, it sounds like a more "aggressive" NWOBHM outfit.
