Smoking ganja with bands.....wow that sounds great. I haven't met any metal musicians. I've only shaken hands with a Rake N' Scrape Artist, Ancient Man (Rake N' Scrape is Bahamian Music....it's like 1st or 2nd cousin to Soca and Calypso). Also, I've purchased a demo from Versatile (an independent Bahamian Reggae singer).

I met and had a good chat to the whole of Iron Maiden on their Powerslave tour, yes, long ago, really nice guys, took time out after the gig to meet the fans. Also met Def Leppard on their Hysteria tour, quite hard getting Rick Allen to sign a program with his solo arm!

I've met ALOT of them...mostly because I go to just about all of the shows that come through my city and the musicians have a tendency to hang out in the crowd when not performing or setting up. Reently, I ran into George Fisher (Corpsegrinder) and asked him to say hello to my boyfriend who at the time had a broken leg and was stuck in a wheelchair on the lawn. I asked because I thought it wasn't fair I get to meet him just because I can walk. George was so cool about it too, he knew he was going to get mobbed for autographs if he went on the lawn but he did anyways...that made my boyfriend's summer! Amon Amarth always hang out in the crowd whenever I see them too. You can't miss them...they usually are wearing their viking horns and stuff! At Maryland Deathfest, I ran into Karl Willetts of Bolt Thrower. He was walking around in the crowd all weekend too. Same with Napalm Death's bassist. A few years back I found myself having a rather lengthy conversation with a dude from God Dethroned. He was really cool to talk to. There was another time when the dude from Illogicist were trying to kiss me hahaha I had to push them off though! Same thing happened with one of the dudes from Immersed in Blood...what made that real funny was that my boyfriend was right there LOL I don't think he realized the dude standing next to me was my boyfriend! When I was still a teenager (like around 16ish) I thought it was so cool to run up to them like a squealing school girl and ask for an autograph, but now, I have since realized, they're people too! They're fans of the music (usually haha) and just want to watch the show and have a good time like the rest of us. Unless they're Dave Mustain LOL. Sometimes I'll find myself having a conversation with them and others, I'll snag a photo and an autograph and go about my business. m/

Not met many just Corey Taylor, Joey Jordison and briefly Chris Fehn from Slipknot. Corey is a very cool person, down to earth and very humble for a lead singer of a band with so much fame. I saw Agressor (French Death/Thrash metal band) in a small metal bar in Calais, the lead singer ended up talking to me after the gig and bought me a pint of lager which was cool. He told me about how the band supported Metallica and Sepultura back in the late 80s and early 90s. I also had a beer with a musician from french hardcore band 40 Oz before he took the stage. I bought a band t-shirt directly from the lead singer of my favorite french punk band. Neophyte which I found cool, he wouldn't let me buy an XL saying was to big and kept holding up the L and XL to my body to see which one would fit better, I actually got his MSN and we had a few brief conversations, but I found he was quite stupid and pretty ignorant. Finally, although I didn't really meet the guy, Marcello Dias, who was bassist of Soulfly when I saw them, came over to me and a mate at the end of the concert to shake our hands, we were both absolutely mental during the gig, as he shook our hands, he slipped one of his plectrums which I still have, he seemed really cool, it's a shame Max Cavalera is under the thumb because he seemed to be enjoying himself but his wife was on the side of the stage and practically dragged him of. The band I was dissapointed with the most was Slayer, as they paid no attention to the fans, appart from Lombardo who stood there smiling waiting for someone to call him over but nobody did the crowd were just calling Tom and Kerry. At least me and a mate got a friendly wave from Jeff Hanneman as he walked behind a bus on his cell phone.

22.09.2009 - 17:25 Written by Syk on 22.09.2009 at 17:15 He just saw us looking at him. I nodded over and he waved back. Corey Taylor from Slipknot actually told me that Slayer rarely mix with the fans, he says that they believe that they no longer need to as their fanbase is assured. Apparently Metallica are the same. The mate who was with me when Hanneman waved over to us had a good experience though, he once got wrecked on the Marduk tour bus with all the band, I'm not a fan of Marduk but it was one of his favorite bands so it must have been a good experience for him.

Back in 1991 or so I was walking in the city with my mom, when I saw some longhaired and tattooed guys in a backery. I knew Biohazard and Kreator where comming that evening and when I heard them speak English I decided to go for it: I asked if they where members of Biohazard and the confirmed. They were astonished that such a small, not metal-looking kid recognised them and they invited me (and my mom!!!) to the gig after talking about metal for half an hour or so. We went there backstage and met the guys from Kreator at their awesome tourbus. Unforgettable. I also played a band and during that time I met like 100+ musicians, but not the famous ones. The biggest (metal)names that are comming to mind when we played gigs with them are Agathocles, Ancient Rites, Excess Of Cruelty...
