2008 U.S. Presidential Election

With much pontificating on whether to even start this one, (due to the anticipation of a major headache), I present to you the official thread of the 2008 U.S. Presidential election. I am just too damn interested in seeing what everyone (U.S. and non-U.S. citizens alike) thinks. I would like for all of us to approach this in an atypical matter. DO NOT discuss petty issues that are discussed every day by various media outlets. (Abortion, Same-Sex Marriage, Etc.) Such issues have been presented to us with intent to take our minds off of things that are actually important.
Feel free to grace us with your opinions of the Political Candidates, Political Debates, Important Issues such as solutions for Iraq, The role that the U.S. will play in the world, Etc. Try also not to look only 4 years into the future...that is what has gotten the U.S. into so much trouble in the past...
Go 'lite' on posting or quoting tons of links to other sights. Everything should come from yourself...and please keep the personal insults to a minimum...we all (hopefully) have the same goal to make the world a better place. Unfortunately that peace is currently being halted by greedy politicians. Remember to keep the big question in mind: What political figure would be the best for the entire Global community and why? Go at it fools!

Speaking on the whole Muslim thing, it's kinda sad that a mere rumor has so much prevalence.

All I've really heard from this election is Conan O'briens jokes on it and the odd news clip (I dont watch TV too often), but from what I could tell it seems Obama has got a strong hold on this, is that just because of liberal media dominance or is it actually true? I'd like McCain to win, 'cause he supports a Free Trade Agreement with my country, while Obama doesn't. Unfortunately McCain is too old... that is deffinitely a low point. Probaly that was hi reason for choosing Sara Palin to compensate it... or so teh analysts say here.

04.10.2008 - 19:54 Written by [user id=30512] on 03.10.2008 at 15:19 i can't resist the temptation to ask: whre were you all when that motherfucker (Saddam Husein) droped chemical bombs he had bought from German/English/American/... companies on our cities? things are a little biased, arent they? but indeed 2 wrongs don't make a right. btw, the point is that the president himself is nothing, he is just a puppet controlled by The Leader (and his proponents). IDK but even heavier sanctions don't seem to stop 'em and as it's unbelievable that they only want peaceful nuclear energy when they officially speak of wipping Israel off the map or that blah blah blahs about the final saviour, spiritual world, afterlife, etc. they must be stopped immediately, military attack isn't an appropriate choice since i'm a patriot afterall. it might seem radical but the best way to deal with this serious nuclear threat is a regime-change, the more delay, the more stronger they'll become, the harder this change will be... the other thing is that their propaganda to fool ppl inside the country is based on frightening ppl of an enemy, they quell reformists by connecting 'em to that enemy, they resist against any form of moderation by assigning it to the efforts managed by spies and traitors. WEST is playing this role now therefore they won't lose this vital subterfuge by negotiating or having freindly relationships with US/Israel, so they will never really negotiate with US... this will be a political suicide for this totalitarian regime. if the president speaks of being ready for negotiations, he dosent really mean it, he's just pathetically trying to look decent but who knows, i can hardly predict what this regime is going to do...it's beyond logic and political theories... anyway, if there's going to be any direct talk, i think it should be done by Iran's next president who i hopefully guess is of reformists. sorry if it's a little (JUST a little) off topic...

I love America; where you can get shot in the face by your second amendment. I'd put my vote towards Obama, McCain and Palin aren't really an option. The options are "Hope" or dead set aids.

I can say that Obama will probably win and the world should be happy. He will the first global citizen and will tax ME to no end and redistribute my wealth to all who have not earned it across the globe. I realize the worlds left hate George Bush, but if Europe had not meddled in the middle east centuries ago we would not be here today. this entire election and the worlds view of the U.S. is defined by Iraq. I didnt hear a bunch of whinny ass liberals when the U. S. liberated Kuwait. Well actually Joe Biden was a whinny ass liberal then too but i digress. The point is that sure the war was not as planned but neither was WW2 or any other war. the irony is that history will blame Bush also for this current economic crisis when it was actually Democrats who precipitated it.

Taka , i really do respect the effort you put into your posts. sometimes i wish they were shorter so people who has less time like me could read the intimatly. Your post mostly seemed to resonate on the " why dont the rich people pay more taxes. Well here in the U.S. here are the numbers..... 50% of the people pay 97% of the tax. In english that means half the people in america have NO vital interest in their own well being. 10% of the people pay 70% of the tax ahh you also asked about why there was no universal health care in the USA. My first response is that my govt cant even buy a hammer for the military for less than $500 what makes you think they can provide health care at a discounted rate? Next the founder of the canadian health care system Claude Castonguay has recently said his system was now in crisis 5% of the people pay 60% of the tax 1% of the people pay 39% of the tax. Now those you say might just be numbers. Here is the rest of the story..... The top 1% of the income earners may make 19% of the tax but pay 39% of the tax. ( double their fair share) The bottom 50% of the income earners make 13% of the income but pay only 3% of the tax. the leftist panacea of income redistribution of wealth already applies here in the U.S. i would ask all of you on the left an honest question. Give me a number. Just what should the say richest 10% of the people pay. what percent? I will try to say this respectfully..... still today many U.S. citizens fell a sense of rugged individualism that perveys our culture. we do not want the govt to fullfill our every need. you may wish upon a star for peace on earth and goodwill towards all ,but all the wishing in the world will not create marxist utopia you all wish for. Well at the least you all have a U.S. villain to rail on for the time.... lol...... me good day and good health to you all

I don't think I'll ever understand the "fuck the poor, I don't want my taxes raised" mentality. As for the US election, if I were a citizen I don't know if I could be bothered to vote. Both parties seem essentially identical on so many issues. Written by Anthem on 16.10.2008 at 06:41 If our system is in crisis, the US system is hell on earth. Damn I'd have a lot to say about this issue but to be totally honest I won't bother bacause taka pretty much did it all already. I'd like to add few points tho, it's not only about how much and who will pay taxes it's also about how that tax money is used.. U.S uses brazillion times more money on just military issues than my country's whole yearly budget is, the budget that gives people free education, free health-care and a level of social security. Changing/fixing taxation system doesn't always have to mean raising taxes. Like taka said, I don't even consider paying taxes really.. the sum in my paycheck it what I eventually get, the price tag on any product is what I pay for it (even I do know there is 22% tax in the price) and I don't really feel like gov would be regulating or monitoring my life.. I see gov as HR department of a company, they handle the paperwork and money flow, also makes sure that the "company education and wellness program" runs smoothly.. personally I feel that the gov is there to serve me or any other individual in this country and the money i pay as taxes is used for common good, I don't owe absolutely anything to the gov but I do have responsibility to keep the system running and help those who haven't been as fortunate as i have.. hell, i might be one of them some day and i sure hope i'll get some help then. Bact to the issue, I don't know how much Obama will be able to change things but I truly hope that people of U.S will give him a chance, things can only get better at this point.
