Is this abrasive...Or accessible? Jesus Christ, this album is such a great balance of the dirty, grittiness of southern rock influenced stoner metal meets classic prog rock. It's psychedelic, yet unbelievably easy on the ears, and easier on the brain.

Royal Thunder caught my interest with their 2010 EP and I have since then eagerly waited for a full length. It is here, and I finally got my hands on it. So, is the album any good? Simple answer: hell yes!

While the self titled EP mainly plodded along in mid-tempo it quickly got clear that with CVI things are a bit different. The album starts off with a bang and the first few songs are so intense and full of emotion. Much of this is due to the top notch performance of vocalist Mlny Parsonz whose vocals ranges from being soothing to aggressive. This broad spectrum also reflects the stellar songwriting. There is a good balance of these up-tempo sections and more slower, heavier and psychedelic tinged ones. As Doc Godin described nicely in his review, CVI is catchy yet with an edge and I can't get enough of its brilliance.

! Glad to hear you liked it! I really dig this album and man I love that kind of female vocals, I must see them at Roadburn 2013.

Now I payed my debt for helping me discover Vertigo Steps. Cheers.

Indeed, we are now even Hopefully, you'll help me discover more cool stuff. Still waiting on that death/doom list. *coughs*

And Marcel gave it a 7, which is not bad. I really like the riffs and the general construction of the songs. It isn't the best thing ever, but really enjoyable.

Sorry for answering a question not directed to me, but probably Black Moth. The girl from Royal Thunder is three times better than this one in my opinion, but it may be of your interest.

Now this does sound good actually. I dismissed this as another prog album a fair while ago, clearly not the case. Great female vocals tops this off.

More psychedelic stoner metal with female vocals? Check out Windhand (http://windhandva.bandcamp.com/).

Also, here are more "heavy" metal bands with female vocals like this who are employing the classic rock vibe. Check out Christian Mistress (christianmistress.bandcamp.com/) and Castle (http://www.heavycastle.com/).

All these albums are great but Royal Thunder is probably the gold standard Enjoy!!

Last year's Jess And The Ancient Ones also contains great female vocals. You should enjoy it.
