So then where do you draw the line between the mother's choice and the child's? I know of a woman whom my parents worked with who has had six abortions. Where do you draw the line between being just totally in the wrong place and wrong time and just being totally irresponsible like so many people are who usually have them?

In some cases, Abortion is a valid choice. Think about it, if a woman gets raped, and subsequently becomes pregnant, is it wrong to not want to carry the child of a rrapeist? If you are too financially unstable to support a child, is it better to not even have the child, or put it in a orphanage, where it will more than likely bounce around from home to home until somebody adopts them?

So what if your mother was raped and wanted to kill you, would that be alright?

You honestly feel it is totally fine to kill one person because of another persons wrong doing? That is really what you are saying there.

Also, you do not know for a fact that the child will be sent from orphanage to orphanage. There are programs in place where women are given the option of having the baby instead of killing it and then giving it to organizations and ministries that will raise the child.

Financial burdens are no reason to end a baby's life either. We all have hardships in our lives. Many people go through a money problem at some point. If it is alright with you to kill a child in the womb because you are financially unable to support it, is it then alright for me to shoot my 5 year old and kill him because we are broke?

I am in full support of abortion. I believe it is the woman's choice whether or not to have an abortion - as it's her body - and society shouldn't say otherwise.

Now people might say that fetuses are human beings. If they're human beings, why does the census not count them? If they're humans beings, how come when there's a miscarriage, they don't have a funeral? If they're human beings, why do pregnant mothers say we have 2 children and one on the way instead of saying we have 3 children? (Yes, I pulled this straight form a George Carlin skit)

I have nothing against abortion, it's not the option that i would go for though if had to decide. But people have to stop pretending like theres something human about a mass of undeveloped slime, are we supposed to act like sperm is human as well and not toss our salads anymore. Of course everyone has to decide for themselves when the actual baby is developed and is no longer a bunch of stem cells, I guess i would say when the heart starts beating? However that akes no difference to me because as previously stated i don't see anything morally wrong with abortion.

You gave us a very good point, any woman could feel that sensation, and view the kid as a product of an horrendus action.

Of course, there is no way to pretend that I could understand the feelings of a raped person, I know that nothing I could say would change the mind of that woman, BUT the baby has NOT THE FAULT, babies are not responsible for the actions of their parents, everyone deserves the opportunity to live!!!

Come on Jed. We all know how much you like to do your little questioning. I like you, at least from I know via this great forum, but sometimes man, just come on. When you have no way to prevent it and it is forced, like in a situation of rape, yes I think that "blob of cells" or "human" or whatever YOU might think it is should be terminated by will of the woman IT is in.

I understand you coming from every other direction. I don't like it either, it's too much of an easy way out of your irresponsibilities. But I think in a situation such as this, or one where it was totally an accident, like when contraception fails, I think that it is perfectly MORAL to do. I see no connection between me and a blob of cells. As of right then, none of the cells are even specialized and have even less significance than say skin cells, of which we all lose many daily.

Like I said, it should not be used mindlessly but that isn't for me to decide. I can only give my opinion, which has little to support it and no connection. If a mother were to want it that bad in an understandable situation, I would go ahead and do that, for prevention of future harm to both parties, either physically or mentally by their own, or societies account.

I think calling an abortion 'murder' is a bit unfair. But thats just a matter of opinion....you are right, it is a mistake made by other people and not the baby's fault that if a woman got raped. So why let the child be born if you know its just going to suffer and not recieve the love it deserves? I personally can't judge this subject either, I just wouldn't feel right.

Im just offerring another way of looking at it, maybe if you are from a poor background, having a child will even further damage your chances of financial stability, and if you are already raising a family at the same time, then maybe the childs birth and cost for raising the child, will affect how the rest of the family is doing. I don't know about the states, but you don't get much compensation from the govt. unless you have a certain amount of children. I assume other countries are similar ( maybe Im wrong ).

Asking a woman to keep a child or even to go through the hell of birth is already asking alot. And sadly, we cannot tell wether or not a child will be accepted with all the love and care in this world, but we should at least leave the decision to the mother who will base her judgement on the given circumstances. And if shes not mentally apt for the decision, perhaps those from her immediate family can support that decision in some way. I don't think abortion is wrong or right, but I think that every woman should have that rite.
