My all-time favorite TV show/movies. I like all the five series, the animated series and the 10 movies. Greatest show ever! Any Trekkies here on MetalStorm?

Lyrinan = total Trekkie Really though, I am only a big fan of Next Generation. I love every second of TNG and am currently watching all the DVD's from the beginning (we're in the middle of season 6 right now). My favourite episode is the one where the day repeats itself and the crew sends a message back through Data to get them out of the loop. My close second favourite episode is when Q gets kicked out of the continuum. HILARIOUS I watched the first season of Voyager but then fell out of love with it; I thought Enterprise was pretty bad. I haven't seen much of Deep Space Nine but plan to watch it straight through when I'm done with TNG. Maybe I'll love it as much!

So you dared to create a Star Trek thread here in Metal Storm, in the same forum in which I made the Star Wars thread, huh? You have brought war upon thee my young apprentice. The Universe is not big enough for both of our sagas.

Chill, Darth. These two "sagas" have pretty much nothing in common except the word "Star" in their title One of our local TV stations was playing the ORIGINAL series today. I'm not sure if was a one-time thing or if it'll happen every Saturday. I sure hope so! I've only seen a handful of episodes from the orig. series. I just love it though. The cheesiness is so wonderful - plus it's like a Star Trek history lesson! In today's episode Spok did a mind-meld with a creature and he didn't actually touch it. Interesting.........

Account deleted Written by Susan on 17.09.2006 at 20:30 Deep Space Nine is beyond fantastic. It has great writing, acting, effects, everything. DS9 is also a hell of a lot more epic than TNG. The stories in DS9 flow into one another so it is imperative that you watch it from start to finish. The final season is especially epic due to the huge outbreak of war that drags in just about everyone. TNG is great but you can watch just about any episode at any time and it will make perfect sense. This isn't really the case with DS9.

Well, DS9 had writers who nowadays are responsible for Battlestar Galactica so some quality character development and intricate plots are to be expected... I certainly dont call myself a Trekkie but I have seen a bunch of seasons of TNG and DS9, more out of boredom than anything else (and hey, if you have a fast internet connection its really no trouble to watch entire seasons of any given show). TNG is a bit naive and low quality compared to DS9 but that is understandable considering it was created before Twin Peaks changed the quality of cinematography and screenwriting expected to find in tv-shows. I guess the biggest problem I have with Star Trek in general is how politically correct it is. Although admittedly the show does have moments when it presents you with paradoxes or ideas that make you think for a little while, really serious issues are usually avoided, making the show an exercise in escapism more than anything else. Not that this is a bad thing (after all, when I was bored a bit of escapism wasnt really all that bad) but I expect more from a show if I am to declare myself its fan

I love star trek, but I'm only really familiar with TNG and The origional series, and I love them Both. People always ask the question, "Who's better, Kirk or Pickard?" well, I like Pickard better because he actualy thinks, and doesn't end up being the shows main reason for trouble. With Kirk it's like, "Ok, everything's fine, Oh Look! A Woman! I'm gona do her." In the meantime, the crew is fighting a 20 foot tall man eating Venus fly trap, awsome right? Anyway, that's the very reason why I like Kirk as well.

I used to be a very big Star Trek fan, but now that the franchise is apparently in a downswing I'm just continuing to collect the novels. Like most of you my favorite series is DS9, although I feel sometimes it and Babylon 5 had some big similarities (same with Voyager; Species 8472 is a ripoff of the Vorlons and Shadows). Jupi's right though; the humans in Star Trek are way too "perfect" and politically correct. DS9 is about the only series where the human characters acted more "real", as they had their own personal conflicts going on and such.

I guess you can call me a trekkie. I love all of them, and TNG the most, then DS9 and Voyager. I don't really like the original one, and the one with cptn Archer like the others.

Wow, Star Trek I actually have a Borg version of me as my Facebook profile picture Next Generation and Deep Space 9 were good, so was Voyager, but the Enterprise series lacked something. Probably a good captain, Bakula was awful.

Love them all but DS9 is my favorite 'cos it has all -> exploration, wars, new races and the old ones; people get lost in space, but still you can see what people are doing at "home" (that is, in Federation). I watched it at least thee times, probably more.
