I'm just going to dump a few releases here that are worth everyone's time. The first one is an amazing mixture of jazz, black metal, avantgarde, and countless other influences. It's long, and drags on a bit too much at a few points, but overall it's one of my favorites of the year so far. The second is a very slow, chill sounding release by a band called Slow which uses black metal and doom to create a pretty mellow atmosphere. Wasn't expecting to like it too much, but I found it pretty nice for a listen or two. The third one is, unfortunately, only a track off of the upcoming Doomed album, but it sounds promising, so give it a whirl. Finally we have a high-energy, power-filled, sludged-out, low-fi, album by Fange which is pretty well summed up by the previously listed terms. Really fun, and quite enjoyable. 1) Bandcamp 2) Bandcamp 3) Bandcamp 4) Bandcamp EDIT: OHOHOH. I just found this and it's quite enjoyable. Bluesy sludge that just oozes...ooze. By OOZE!

16.04.2014 - 05:29 Written by deadone on 16.04.2014 at 05:24 Like I said earlier in another thread, they're small, fun, cheap and capture the good spirit of 90's tape trading. I love them. Buying physical copies of music ins't always about the listening aspect either, it's about collecting too. I have probably 50 tapes, I don't listen to them that often to preserve sound etc, but why should I? I can listen to it all online anyway. That tape above is $5 shipped. Kinda hard to not want it.

16.04.2014 - 05:40 Written by deadone on 16.04.2014 at 05:33 I collect both, have around 50 tapes, and closing in on 400 cds now. Not as many LP's as I just can't afford it, I still have probably 30 or 40 though. Lots of second hand stuff. Back on topic. Some HxC (close enough to metal) from backtrack, who are opening for Counterparts in may and I'm beyond excited for this show.

Damn, the Icelandics really are kicking out some great sounding black metal in recent years. Imagine Walknut only more dissonant and sinister and with tortured vocals. Something along those lines anyway.

Account deleted Written by Boxcar Willy on 16.04.2014 at 04:39 I don't know what this is but it's amazing. I didn't find it creepy at all though, even the black metal parts. I found the whole thing pretty psychedelic really.

The new Woman Is The Earth album, "Depths," is out. http://www.womanistheearth.com/?page_id=14 My first impression is that the songwriting itself is good, but the album suffers from a bad mix. Drums are way too loud. I will give it a few more listens though before I make a final decision on how I feel about the album.

Damn, didn't this band used to make raw, hate-filled black metal? This sounds positively euphoric in comparison. Kind of a shame it's so short as I really like it.

^ That's really good. Sounds like Entropia's last release in a certain way. I'm gonna save the name for when there's a full length. By the way there's this album by Basarabian Hills. A melancholic black metal with lots of keyboards overcoming everything.
