Perhaps the band's weakest album apart from its predecessor 'Winter carols' (which isn't really an album of original material, but a folky twist on christmas carols instead), there are only really two songs that grab my attention properly here. The first is the epic, gradual yet very well written 'Locked within the crystal ball', which is also the band's longest song in their career to date, and also features a slight progressive twist regarding Blackmore's guitar style. The second, surprisingly, is the Elvis Presley cover 'Can't help falling in love', which is very uplifting and comes across diverse. Perhaps what makes this more lacklustre than previous albums though is the one thing I believe the band have always excelled at-Folk instrumentation. The band's first few albums really succeeded in using these specific instruments, and so this one slightly falls under the mark where it should be interesting and completely original. It's not bad in any way, but it certainly is average in comparison to what others expect from the band.
