At first I was excited. Overly so. I mean, a new Tiamat album is up for grabs. Once again it's taken the band a long time for another release to come out. I listened, and I liked what I heard. Then, after a while, I was considerably less enthusiastic about it, which is not to say outright disinterested. Now, after even more time has passed I'm wallowing in the territories of "Aw, shit, I don't know..."

That would be my second choice for sure (glad you didn't say Wildhoney like everyone else).

Yep, same here. It literally would never happen but it's a nice thought.

I think it's a nice album. Then again, I'm extremely unfamiliar with this band. Too lazy to check them out.

Same, although I did a once-over of their discog a while ago and found them completely insignificant. I know they have a pretty decent following and have obviously released some material some people go crazy over, but it's just not my thing.

Hell, I prefer Heaven Shall Burn's cover of "Whatever That Hurts" to anything Tiamat have released.

I don't know why I'm not dissapointed, because I loved Amanethes.
But I really don't think anything about this album. It's decent background music and overall it's not bad at all. Just not good.

It's a really nice album. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Amanethes but it has some pretty good songs.

Amanethes in my opinion was a stupid and uninnovative gothic doom with some death elements not worthy of Johan Edlund's genius. This is much closer to Wildhoney, and it is the best their release since A Deeper Kind Of Slumber.

Most underrated and best album of the year. This ended up being the grower of a lifetime, and I don't think I've listened to any release from 2012 more. Topped only in their catalog by the incomparable A Different Kind of Slumber.
