You know the drill, post any metal album released/upcoming in 2018 that you listened, found worthy and want to recommend to others.
UK one-man black metal with a heavy wall-of-noise production. Its on Sentient Ruin, so guaranteed to deliver.

New Sleeping Peonies. Feel like I haven't heard from this band in a while. Interesting, highly textured ambient black metal with vocals that may not be for everyone (I like them). Has a heavy, emotional force to it, not entirely unlike Angelic Process at times. Sleeping Peonies Rather nice hyper-emo atmos-black. Maybe even some melodic death doom notes in it as well. Bloodbark Standard but quality psychedelic doom, that nails the dark trippy vibe. Bismarck Interesting thing on Profound Lore. Sort of intense, cascading black metal effortlessly meets ambient electronics. It works well. Bliss Signal Super-solid tight death metal, with no bells and whistles. Lago Pretty fun primitive death 'n' roll. Draghkar So Mizmor ( מזמור) who I recall a bunch of people liking, released a new thing which seems to have gone under the radar. Expect massive, lengthy compositions of crushing doom, drone and black metal. Probably the single worst example of marketing and publicising a record I've ever seen. It practically doesn't exist outside Spotify and that Youtube link (which seems to be unofficial). [EDIT] apparently it's a comp of older tracks. Mizmor full thing on Youtube Stunningly good noise-rock from Poland. Just an amazing, intense experience. I am smitten. UGORY

Haven't had chance to listen to it yet but Vola are absolutely one of the best prog bands of our time. Looking forward to it. Vola Gnaw Their Tongues / Crowhurst collab. It's not really anything special; passable noise. Both parties have done better. That artwork though. Gnaw Their Tongues / Crowhurst One for LoG. La Torture Des Ténèbres Absolutely hellish blackened dissonance. S.E.K.H. Don't usually dig blasty black metal but I can get on board with this stuff. Spider Gates New Carpe Noctem song. And a new Megaton Leviathan record coming out too. I recall them being much more of a psychedelic drone band than this, but not bad all the same.

06.09.2018 - 22:45 Edgy metallic hardcore from US. Portrayal of Guilt Piercing and loud second wave black metal with shrieking vocals. Great songwriting throughout here. SIELUNVIHOLLINEN Epic melodic doom metal from Deadbird. Deadbird New Psycroptic sounds solid, nothing outstanding though. But basically its only because of the high watermark set by the latest masterpiece from Archspire. New Anomalie sounds excellent, sad that its only an ep. Hardcore influenced instrumental sludge. Ramprasad Absolutely fun brutal/slam/-core death metal. Stillbirth Expulsed Well produced and more technical. ^ That Ramprasad EP sounds extremely cool. This hits so many notes with me. Drone-touching, room filling ultra-sludge with vocals I would design if I could, that are so blackened they pierce dark matter. Touches of feedback, distortion and occasional mournful clean vocal only add to its greatness. Leechfeast I love this. Kind of moderately industrial sludge / post-metal meets Boards of Canada. Great chilled but encompassing atmosphere. Sunset Wrecks Occult black / death metal for occult black / death metal fans. I don't think the cover art could be any more occult. Qayin Regis A Storm of Light give us more quality industrial post metal. A Storm of Light Murky, sprawling black metal I dig. Love the tortured vocals. Múspellzheimr Vicious, punishing and chunky grind. Axis of Despair Ultra-expansive atypical post-metal with a heavy focus on ambient aesthetics. It borders on drone doom at many points. Hundred Year Old Man Can't profess to really follow Racetraitor's politics but they do make some killer ultra hard hitting metallic hardcore. Racetraitor Not really sure how to categorise them, loosely black metal with some symphonic / synth and maybe folk-touches, of sorts. Two track EP, kinda interesting. Nocrul Described on MA as death / doom, but to me there seems to be a strong black metal component here. Either way it's kind of cool and alien. Lightpath Strong sounding atmos / post-black. Has been popping up here and there recently. Yovel Black meets sludge meets -core. The result is heavy. Aerosol Jesus Can't quite tell if this is production genius or production mishap. It's unique sounding for a death metal demo anyway. Ageless Summoning Rather good noise-rock laden sludge from the UK. Remote Viewing Upcoming psychedelic, droning noise-rock. Probably better suited for the non-metal thread but hey ho. Melting Hand Fun as fuck not boring prog from the UK. A pretty damn cool chasmic maelstrom coming out on Iron Bonehead at some point.

07.09.2018 - 08:12 New Pandiscordian Necrogenesis album from the mastermind behind the Mastery - VALIS record. I don't think the single track provides much context, I'd wait for the full album to comment on the quality. But don't think its going to be as intense as VALIS.
Melodic black from croatia, its on everyone's new favorite label.

Symphonic/melodic death metal from Russia. They used to be more of a gothic metal band if I remember correctly. Has some odd moments (I'm thinking of some of the intros for certain songs. Like for example the song Storm and the Lake of Tears cover Devils Dinner) but that gives this album a certain charm.
