The Fiery Furnaces always had a special place in my heart because of Blueberry Boat and Gallowbird's Bark, but once when I was skimming through their discography I never payed much attention to this album, because at the time I found it wasn't on par with the rest of their stuff. And now I'm skimming through their disco again. Can't believe I left this alone for so much time. This song is a fine piece of drug music. Just goes to show how absolutely genius these guys are.

Currently I'm enjoying this song by Tupac Shakur, the drums and the bass are pretty damn dope. Back when I was a kid and a teen hiphop was pretty much forbidden and deemed socially unacceptable where I live, so never got to listen to it back when it was new. Gatekeepers and moral police can go screw themselves.

Really into John Dowland's Earl of Essex Galliard right now... such a great tune and would love to be able to play it but that fretting is too hard for me with my limited skills on the guitar and I suspect it's a lot of lever work on the harp as well. Will get there one day. Other than John Dowland, guess it's gotta be Dua Lipa and "Houdini" but I may already be in the process of getting tired of it as it's popping up on multiple Spotify playlists these days.

My favorite non-metal album right now is definitely Kathodos - Parasomnia: Pavor Nocturnus. Released on Slithering Black Records. https://slitheringblackrecords.bandcamp.com/album/parasomnia-pavor-nocturnus

Bonnie Tyler - Loving You Is a Dirty Job (But Somebody's Gotta Do It) I love both Jim Steinman and Bonnie Tyler. For some reason I just hadn't listened to this little masterpiece until yesterday. What a wonderful epic ballad with crazy good vocal melodies and lyrics. I think this lovely song is just massively overshadowed by Total Eclipse of the Heart. I can't think of any other reason it's not a massive hit.

B-52's - Rock Lobster All I can say is that back in the day people had much more imagination. Seriously, I was just casually listening to some average forgettable music when this thing popped up and turned everything upside down, like I had really good time listening to this. What a great, creative, out there rock song. I couldn't even imagine something this outrageously unique, intense and fun get played publicly anywhere, let alone become a hit. Creativity is so underrated these days. People are too comfortable in their little boxes to risk facing anything new.

I've been listening to some Mike & the Mechanics lately. Although their albums are inconsistent, uneven, there are songs that pleasantly surprise me. Catchy and enjoyable.

21.07.2024 - 07:37 I find it amazing how these guys were able to create such psychedelic and alien music without any use of strange effects or synths, just acoustic instruments, skill and creativity - and probably a lot of acid. I don't think there's any other band that sounds like this. The whole album is great, one of my personal favourites.

I've been listening to this old favorite in recent weeks. I'll never forget the first time I heard this song as a teenager. "Felt like a classic the moment it came out" - truer words were never spoken. Except maybe for every single line in this masterpiece of a song.
