My choice is between Still Loving You and Holiday, SLY because the guitars(both distorted and clean) are stunning, it's an extremely intense track(especially nowadays when they play it live, the chorus gets HEAVY AS FUCK) and the vocal performance is absolutely stunning, i don't know who else could have done a better job than mr. Klaus Meine on this majestic track. Holiday on the other hand is a great, quiet, romantic feel-good song, simply amazing. still, i think SLY is the better of the tracks i've mentioned.

In Trance a ballad
Wind Of Change is the single most hoorible ballad ever by any band imo. My God how vomit inducing can a song be?
I totally love When The Smoke Is Going Down.

I picked winds of change. The others are good too but I have a sort of nestalgia asscosiated with this song so it's kind of automatic.

yeh, it's a power ballad kinda sounds like a 70s version of Still Loving You come to think of it, i wonder how many takes it took Uli to record that solo knowing that harmonizing guitar effects didn't exist at that time.. but knowing how good Uli is, i'd say not too many.
as for WoC, it's a song i pretty much grew up with, it evokes many memories and it totally encompasses the spirit of 1989 imo. but of course BACK IN THE DAY when only the tr00 people roamed the world, everyone thought it was shit, right?

Only people that liked Scorpions thought it was shit, the general public loved it. It was a huge hit all over Europe at the time.

My first vote would be for 'Eye to Eye'. I love the lyrics and the meaning behind the song and Klause sings it perfectly. Wind of Change is another that must be respected.

Has to be Still Loving You. I just broke up with a girl I thought I would be with forever and as cheesy as it sounds these lyrics are exactly what I'm feeling at the moment. That kind of desperate hope to make it work again but knowing it never will. Great guitar, great vocals, the song has the works.

Just one song from the 70s?
What about: Fly People Fly, Yellow raven, In Your Park, Life's Like a River, Living and Dying? All great songs.
Yellow Raven it is.

Why are you so shocked?
I mean I know it isn't good, but it's the most commercially successful song they ever had. Commercial success usually equals "best" to the masses.
My personal favorite Scorpions ballad is "Virgin Killer."

Commercially successful = bad to many metalheads. I'd say there's at least as much bashing of commercially successful songs/bands/albums as there is praise for them around here. So I personally am surprised to see Winds Of Change in the lead here, or at least surprised that it's winning by as much as it is.

Winds Of Change is just a bad song despite it selling well, especially when you compare it to their other ballads.
Still Loving You was almost as commercially succesful but you won't hear me bashing that one because it actually is a good song.

I wouldn't say it's a bad song, but for sure, I much prefer Still Loving You. I usually hate mushy love ballads, but musically Still Loving You is just a great composition. The funny thing about both Winds Of Change and Still Loving You is they both contain solos by Rudolph Schenker, which is something he's done very rarely during the Scorps' career!

Schenker usually takes the solo on ballads, it's been a tradition.
Best argument why In Trance isn't a ballad: No Schenker solo -> no ballad.

Still Loving You is too popular, Holiday is somewhat similar of tune. The song "when you came to my life" is very famous on tv here as I was surprised the first famous band got videoclip upped.
