This month, Metal Mind re-releases some productions of the label Empire Records. It's a good thing actually because their releases (essentially some Polish bands) are really good and since that Empire is not a really big label, a lot of people outside Poland and Europe have never seen any of these bands in their shops. It will change now and luckily we will be able to listen to "The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness" by Chainsaw which is a really good album of Power Metal.

Chainsaw plays Power Metal and they have some influences from the European side of this kind of Metal. Though, "The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness" is not so easy and cheesy. The riffs are heavy (listen to "Impatient and you'll understand what I mean), the music is technical and we even have some little passages which aren't so far away of Progressive music ("In Flames"). When you add that the singer even adds some death vocals to sing some choruses and you can understand that "The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness" is an original album. It's not perfect maybe because some melodies are maybe a bit too "European" if you see what I mean but all in all, it's a surprising album and I really believe in Chainsaw. I didn't know this band (well I only know their name actually) before that I've listened to this release but I'm nicely surprise and I will recommend it to all the people who like Power Metal.

This Metal Mind re-released version of the album is perfectly done. The artwork and booklet are still really good, the sound was already perfect but at least now you'll be able to listen to it since that the distribution of this label is good in general. I don't have a lot of things to add, in the end "The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness" is a good album, original with some good ideas and which is just too much influenced sometime by some average European Power Metal acts.

If you use and like to listen to Power Metal, "The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness" will be good for you. Chainsaw cannot be compared to bands like Sonata Arctica or Helloween because they're bit more progressive and complex in the end and that's good thing! Now I will try to find their last album "A Sin Act", that's probably a good release too (well at least I hope that they found the way to confirm their really good level through this release too).
