Children Of Bodom - Album Details Unveiled, Teasers Online

Official press release

Children Of Bodom, the hard partying Finnish Heavy Metal band that features frontman and modern-day guitar hero Alexi Laiho will release its new album Relentless Reckless Forever on March 8, 2011 via Universal Music.

Recorded in Finland's Petrax Studios with famed rock producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet), Relentless Reckless Forever is the seventh studio album of Children Of Bodom's illustrious career and the first new record from the band since 2008's Blooddrunk, which debuted at #22 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart and scored the quintet its third consecutive #1 debut in Finland. On Relentless Reckless Forever, COB's high-energy hooks and electric energy forge stadium-sized heavy metal anthems that seethe with both marvelous musicianship and a phenomenal pop prowess. The quintet's unique union of haunting melodies, rhythmic sensibility, guitar-and-keyboard interplay and king-size solos is supercharged to the maximum, and the resulting record is poised to push the band - already on the brink of breakout success in the U.S. - to an altogether new pinnacle.

"We worked super hard on this album, at least for me it was pretty much no sleep or rest for six weeks," stated Laiho. "But we were determined to make the best COB album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kicking our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so obviously we're more than anxious to get this album out there"

The first single and video from Relentless Reckless Forever is "Was it Worth It?". COB shot a high energy music video for the track, joining forces with two-time X Games gold medalist and two-time Thrasher Magazine "Skater of the Year" Chris Cole as well as noted pro skaters Jamie Thomas, Garrett Hill and Tom Asta (the current #1 Amateur skateboarder in the world). Filmed on location at central Pennsylvania's residential Action Sports compound Camp Woodward and directed by Dale Resteghini for Raging Nation Films (Pink Floyd, Santana, Mötley Crüe), the video was shot guerrilla style, sans treatment; honing in directly on Children Of Bodom's high-spirited fire and the skaters' eye-opening execution.

"The single "Was It Worth It?" is a total party song, said Laiho. "It's not your typical Bodom sound, but it's one of my favorites and heavy as hell." Watch a short trailer below.

I will never understand what took them to go so low with Blooddrunk, after all the previous albums were just great. Hope that this will be another good one, but ... don't sound promising

Honestly i think its going the be a good album. I fucking hate purists who think if a bands sound changes they have conformed. I listen to music because i like the music, I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks of my taste. I think blooddrunk was an ok album, defs not my favorite and Are you dead yet is my favorite. I also love all the old bodom stuff. But think of this, if the band kept cranking out albums so similar to the last would we like them as much. Take Opeth, they have kept a similar sound but it has evolved and changed over the years. Now take In Flames, if they cranked out a million clayman or jester race would we treasure the albums so much, yeah they're new albums arnt as good as the old ones but its a different sound and still very enjoyable. Anyone badmouths what i have just said will be ignored so just don't bother

Everytime COB releases something new the same haters show up to say how much they hate this band.

And each time a few blind followers come up to post some silly and pathetic comments, trying to defend the band.

COB not sold out? Don't make me laugh. All the announcement reeks marketing and attempt at gaining mainstream acceptance.

Bodom, prepare for itemised insults.

Looks/ Appearance: The album cover looks like a halloween-themed video game. Using skaters in the video sadly reminds me more of Avril Lavigne than Andrew WK which is probably what they were going for.

'Sold Out' status: Specifically mentioning they are 'on the verge of US breakthrough' in the blurb makes it clear that is the only market they are interested in since that's where the money is. It just means the music has to be dumbed way way down. No offense to the US, but the mainstream pop music industry there is almost as phlegm-inducing as the one in the UK - just with more money going into it.

Music: Was it Worth it, sounds like the sort of dull, dry hard rock song popular euro power metal bands do these days. The rest of the samples sound like rehashes of old Bodom material.

Popularity: I have no problems with them being popular. Let's not forget the most popular metal bands in the world include my favourites - Sabbath and Maiden. Popular is fine. Its the way they're getting there that's lame.

Well said.

I don't even like COB that much!!! I said it in the post, looks like you just read what you wanted in my post to come up with your pointless 12 yrs old insults. Yeah right I'm a blind follower of COB...lol. I haven't listened to a single COB song since like 1 year. My point was that it seems some people have a lot of time to loose hating COB and posting totally unobjective comments, while there is worse bands everywhere I look. Sold out, everytime a Metal band becomes a little bit popular people will come up with that easy insult. I explained my vision of selling out in the post.

I think the cover is nice, for me it looks better than SW's HB's and FtR's combined. And why are the song titles so interesting? I think in bodom not the songtitle/writing is the point. I like all bodom stuff and waiting this also so much. This material will be similar to BD in my opinion, but totally. I also enjoyed BD, but my favorite is FtR:)

I don't know who is the blind, who wants the same stuff over and over again or want something new?

Not bad cover artwork...couldn't judge anything from the teasers. Needless to say, their song titles get exponentially more retarded with each album.

Their song writing and lyrics are getting progressively worse with each album. Is it even possible? I used to think people matured with age and improved on their talents as the years go by.COB seem to be the Benjamin Button of Metal.

I think they get more and more retarded and pathetic as time goes by, indeed.
