i'm talking about the fucking SOLO(the one after woah oah oah aoaah sweet child oo miiine, oooohooohoooh sweet love o minee"(drum roll, guitar scream)-it's simply amazing, and i just can't believe he hates it. it has to be gnr's best song, as i believe estranged is boring

So I just got back from the GnR concert that happened yesterday (very front, & center), and it was fucking amazing. I got on the megatron screen in the stadium (because Sebastien Bach who was opening was teasing my friend who was standing right next to me), I caught Robby Jarzombeks drumstick (the drummer for sebastien bach/ex rob halford drummer). I got to touch bumblefoots guitar, and he said something to me after I said rock on! to him when he came near me. not to mention the show was incredible, Axl also sang a song called 'liqour n Hos' with Bubbles from trailor park boys (im not sure how famous this show is, but its a pretty popular tv show here in canada). Sebastien Bach and Axl sang my michelle together, Axl would start off, then Boz would take the next line, then Axl the next line etc. I dont think theres enough room in this text box to explain how amazing that show was (ps Helmet opened but they totally sucked). but the first act was a stripshow/dance routine thing with the suicide girls (for those of you who dont know what/who the suicide girls are, it like soft-core porn but with metal head/ punk type chicks)

Let me start by saying that Slash is one of the best guitarists to ever play. I don't think he is underrated like some others do. If you don't believe me, try and play some of the solos. They are hard to play for a reason. My favorite G'n'R song is Civil War, because there is one riff that I love sooooo much and not to mention the solo shreds. Axl's vocals are really good with their trademark sound as well. Just about everyone in my class likes this band, but that is the heaviest music they listen to. Too bad they don't exapnd and listen to some metal...

I totaly agree with you that Slash is a good guitarist one of my favorites. Civil War is a great song either that one or Sweet Child O' Mine is my favorite they probably would come in a tie because they both have great all around everything.

Slash first inspired me to touch guitar. He is amazing and he is a musician and not a poser/technique/i play scales. But,because the thread is about G'n'R and not Slash, and Slash is now at Velvet Revolver,i will talk about G'n'R.
From the Slash period we have 3 great albums,Appetite and Use your Illusion I and II.And after that Slash leaves and with Axl dont know what to do,Guns are falling down.
For me Axl has a good voice(good not great) but his -poser- behaviour made the situation as it isnow...And if Slash was still at Guns God knows how many good albums they would have to offer,unfortunately...

Well, sorry for that but even though axl may be a showman and good at live performances that can't still make me compare him with other great vocalists. But,except that,to me one thing remains:that G'n'R could be still great if Slash and axl were in good terms with each other. And,ok maybe he wasnt such a poser and an asshole then as he was now but when i see Appetite and UYI 1 and 2 i admit i cant compare these works with nothing from later guns, snakepits and revolvers...

I don't know about that dude. I've heard the Chinese Democracy demo's, and to be honest I don't think I've ever been more stoked for a records release. You may be right about Appetite (also, I can't believe you didnt mention Lies, that EP is packs alot more awesome in 8 shorts songs than all of UYI, to me of course), but I think CD will be right up there with Use Your Illusion.

Well, I can't imagine for the love of God that someone who has heard the demos is actually excited about it. I've heard the demos as well, and lemme tell you all, CHinese Democracy will certainly be the letdown of 2007 if it is released this year. Why do you think it hasn't been released yet? Axl realizes what a bunch of crap he recorded. Chinese Democracy isn't worth the 15 year + wait at all. Even Use Your Illusion 1 + 2 weren't that good. Had Guns and Roses combined the two and released it as just a single cd album of around 70 minutes it would have been a killer, but now both 1 and 2 are chockful of filler and secondrate material.

I know there were some good songs. That's what I said as well. But there weren't enough good songs to fill up TWO albums. November Rain is good but slightly overrated IMO. Estranged and Civil War are by far the two best I think. Those covers are just mediocre, I could never understand why people liked Knocking on Heaven's Door that much. Was it because it is originally done by Dylan?

@Dr. Rock.... come on.... I heard the songs live as well. And they were by far the wordt songs in the set list. Why can't people just accept that Axl without Slash just hasn't the ability to compose good songs? And live Guns were pretty mediocre once again. Of the five tiumes I have seen them live in totall they were good ONLY once. And I have heard those demos of Chinese Democracy quite a lot sicne I first heard them over a year ago and they still do suck. Some songs have one or two alright moments in them but that's it.

I don't think they will ever release it... Axl is way to scared that it will be a flop, which it certainly will be considering the shitty music whcih is featured on it.

Maybe they wanna release it when there is democracy in China, which by the looks of it is.... never.

Chinese Democracy, xD, very offensive title to China. I want to see how Vietnamese rock fan react to similar album title "Vietnamese Democracy" if it existed.

I was really into the song Dont Cry of Guns'n'Rose. It encourage me to tend more in creating relationship. That song is very popular in here (my place in Vietnam). I dont like the make up of Axl Rose also the band in general. The second song of them I liked was November Rain but I didnt like that much the part at the end of the song. I heard they had a song which is about Vietnam or Vietnam war, but not sure which it is. Maybe Civil War???
