Metal Storm logo
A PBR 12 Pack Of Popular Hipster Black Metal.

Orthodoxy is for morons who cannot compose or create themselves and need to copy the blueprint of someone else. Daring to be different might make your music stand apart. Daring to be different and standing apart might draw more people to your music. Daring to be different might make you more popular - and thus more hipster. So grow some facial hair, put on an ironic shirt, grab a PBR, and listen up.

1. Agalloch - Marrow Of The Spirit
won numerous awards, including NPR.
2. Alcest - Écailles De Lune
a Neige product. 'Nuff said.
3. Blut Aus Nord - 777 - Sect(s)
They are French, ergo Hipster.
4. Darkspace - III
They are weird. And Swiss. Switzerland is adjacent to France and even call their currency the "Franc." Hipster via association.
5. Darkthrone - Circle The Wagons
The lads use irony to mock the scene. Irony is the weapon of hipsters.
6. Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Reviewed in the Washington Times, FFS. And they are French.
7. Glorior Belli - The Great Southern Darkness
incorporates unsanctioned non-bm elements, thus hipster rubbish. Oh, they are French, too.
8. Krallice - Dimensional Bleedthrough
Dudes from the untr00 indie scene making black metal!
9. Nachtmystium - Addicts: Black Meddle, Part 2
Not French, but they incorporate post punk. And moved from their own label to a bigger one? and toured with Genghis Tron.
10. Oranssi Pazuzu - Muukalainen Puhuu
they wear hoodies on stage and chill their music out. Too hip.
11. Watain - Lawless Darkness
correct BM image, stage show, practicing theistic Satamists and includes thrash influences. You'd think this is kvltk00l, yet it is hip in wolf's clothing.
12. Wolves In The Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
they live in a hippie commune and streamed this on liberal NPR! And they are from the Pacific Northwest, which is to the rest of the US music what France is to Euro BM. Hipster central.

Classic. Is this list for anyone's benefit in particular Bitter? Couldn't help noticing the word "orthodoxy" at the beginning...

Pabst Blue Ribbon? Are you fucking kidding me here?

Microbreweries ftw.

for starters, i've been drinking microbrews since before you were "born", hoss. besides, all the cool kids drink from Nanobreweries now anyways.

and PBR, as Mister Doctor Beergood pointed out, it is the beer of choice of the hipsters... thus making the use of the term ironic, further befitting the subject.

but it was funny to see such a know-it-all response from a "board warrior" fail on multiple levels.

Mister Doctor Beergood

I don't even drink beer that much and I know about the whole "we like PBR ironically" movement and being ironic is actually more hipster than being underground, trendy or other stuff.

I love how he put born in quotation marks.

Yeah, I am aware of PBR being so-called "hipster beer". I had a different point in mind, but it's irrelevant now, so w/e.

So BitterCOld, I went and saw Alcest and Deafheaven in Orlando and almost had as much fun watching all of the hipster stereotypes being played out as I had watching the performances. It seemed like everyone was drinking PBR. I wish I had took some photos because Alcest's drummer was drinking PBR during the set and there were your typical beardos with their black glasses holding their PBRs while nodding to the music. It was kind of fun to watch that demographic of the audience intermingled with guys wearing long-sleeved black metal shirts, such as the Vlad Tepes one this one dude had on.
