Dying Fetus

Dying Fetus, while traveling through the country in support of their latest album Reign Supreme made a stop in Denver, CO to introduce some of their new songs. Support bands for this headlining tour were Malignancy and Cerebral Bore.

I had a chance to talk with drummer Trey Williams before their gig at the Marquis Theater, but since the local opener Kill Syndicate was already shredding on stage and there was no other location available for the interview, we made the best off it and powered through.

Quick recap on the gig:

Eventhough pre-sale wasn't that stellar for a Saturday night gig, by the time the local opener started playing the venue had filled nicely with metal heads. I believe a lot of us were there to watch (other than Dying Fetus of course) Malignancy and they sure as hell did NOT disappoint.

The front woman from Cerebral Bore apparently quit a couple days before this tour, but Shawn Whitaker from Insidious Decrepancy was a worthy substitute and got everybody going.

Fetus of course kicked ass and played a nice mix of old and new songs. Sorry, no pictures to be had, in part since the venue has a new rule about picture taking; only from the side of the stage! Apparently some "photographer" had issues during a show where the band allowed fans to come up on stage and somebody apparently hit the camera or the lens or what-not-ever and said "photographer" wrote nasty reviews about the venue. Excuse me - it's not the venues fault if you stand smack in the front with no photo-pit. Grow a set of balls!

Anyhoo, I was actually standing smack in the front and was told by security about the new rule; didn't care - but literally got out from the front after about 20 seconds since the moshing and pushing and hitting and jumping started RIGHT away once Dying Fetus took the stage. They played for about an hour plus and as usual, they did an awesome job.

Great drummer, great band, great new album! Funny he mentions that 'In The Trenches' had a hardcore influence, because I'm pretty sure that's my favourite track on the album
