Carcass - Mixing First Studio Album In 17 Years

British extreme metal legends Carcass have begun mixing 15 new songs for their first studio album in 17 years with acclaimed producer Colin Richardson (Fear Factory, Machine Head, Napalm Death). The songs were tracked in Derbyshire. The band has yet to reveal the label home for the new output, which is expected later this year.

The new album will feature Bill Steer on guitars, Jeff Walker on bass/vocals and Daniel Wilding (Trigger The Bloodshed) on drums as Jeff Walker previously confirmed. The band has been sharing photos of the process on their newly created Facebook page.

Carcass will be busy this year and has booked a number of live shows for 2013, including appearances at year's Maryland Deathfest, Germany's Party.San Open Air, Czech Republic's Brutal Assault, U.K.'s Damnation Festival, The Netherlands' Neurotic Deathfest and Chile's Metal Fest.

I hope they go back to their roots but that's not gonna happen I think.
Good news nevertheless.

I'd like it to be similar to their Heartwork era. I'm sure they can't make a masterpiece like that again, but I do hope they come close!

Necrotism or Heartwork for me. Was never particularly partial to the stuff that came before (or after) it.

Even another Swansong-like album would be great for me!

Does anyone actually expect this to be good? I for one am not getting my hopes up at all. I really dislike Swansong and Heartwork isn't much to brag about if you ask me.
