Saw this 15 minute documentary about Los Saicos, who were actually one of the first ever bands to play punk rock. It's really interesting, and I'm hooked to their songs now. Here : You can also listen to their album here on YouTube : Check it out. Very interesting.

I find it extremely far fetched to call this punk rock, or even proto punk rock. Might as well label loads of The Beatles songs as such.
