Within Temptation - New Album Details, Trailer Online

The Dutch symphonic rockers Within Temptation have revealed that their sixth album will be called Hydra, and will be released on the 31st of January, 2014. The artwork was done by Romano Molenaar (X-men, Batman, The Unforgiving). You can view it below with the album trailer as well for suspense. Tell us what you think.

Guitarist and songwriter Robert Westerholt comments about the album title: "It's like us - undefinable! What's more, Hydra is a perfect title for our new album, because like the monster itself, the record represents the many different sides of our music."

The Hydra, a mythological serpent creature from ancient Greece, couldn't be killed. When one of its many heads was cut off, two more grew in its place.

Within Temptation collaborated with several special guests on Hydra: Tarja Turunen, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum and metalcore hero Howard Jones, formerly of Killswitch Engage as well as US hip-hop icon Xzibit. You can pre-order Hydra over here or here.

The artwork and tracklist look amazing, but I'm worried about that song with Xzibit, if it rap-oriented, it would be so disappointing! :\

That's sad, that band need to cover popular pop songs and hire a raper und put it into new album - thats the sign, that band is loosing creativity and become more 'for public'. Time to take a rest Within Temptation.

I quite like the title and the cover. I don't really know how well it fits Within Temptation though.

And the Xzibit cameo is a real head-scratcher.

I see quite a few comments about Xzibit, but I actually think that including an Enrique Iglesias cover is the most outrageous thing in this track list.

I had some hopes when I heard Tarja was featured in a song, but damn, not even that can make it up.

That Enrique Iglesias cover is old news. It was done over a year ago.

I'm assuming tracks 11 onwards are the bonus tracks. What's the cd version gonna look like?

"I'm here to nunchuck and not wear helmets. And I'm all out of helmets."
"I'll fight you on one condition. That you lower your nipples."
" 'Tis a lie! Thy backside is whole and ungobbled, thou ungrateful whelp!"

I remember how I was skeptic about The Unforgiving, and what amazing album it become after all, so I will wait for this one to come out too, and then take my judgement, but that Xzibit song really looks scary. Nevertheless it is clear that song 11... are bonus tracks, so I don't care about Enriquoes song.

And the only good outcome of Xzibit, I could think of is, that the song will turn out to be something similar to "Bring me to life".

Pretty much this. "Bring me to life" still remains one of my biggest guilty-pleasure songs

That´s not change the fact that is a bad thing.

I disagree with the statement that they're losing creativity or becoming more "commercial". The Silent Force (and even the majority of Mother Earth) was radio friendly as hell; and if anything, getting Xzibit to do guest vocals makes them more creative, seeing as they've never attempted it before. Honestly, it would get very boring if they kept on recycling Enter again and again.

Well, I don't particularly care about the covers. Some of them worked, some of them didn't. And if the song was bad to begin with, there was only so much they could do.

Yes, but recycling Mother Earth might work.

He got his own new record to come out. In fact, has come out and sounds amazing. Anyway, WT has become like 'Captain Planet' for me, they were pretty good with first 2 records.
