I would like to know everyone's favorite songs over 10 minutes in length. Maybe someone will even post a song that I have never heard, so I can check it out. My favorites are

Burzum - Det Som En Gang Var (Not my favorite song from Varg, but the atmosphere it creates is unparalleled. One of the riffs is awesome too.)

Symphony X - The Odyssey (Words can't really describe how good this song is. Amazing. The solos, keys, and drums area all great through the 24 minutes)

Opeth - The Moor (The intro alone is worth all the praise this song gets from us Opeth fans. Everything about the song is perfect, Mikael's vocals, the acoustic guitars, the heavy guitars, also I heard there is a sigh in the song, and nobody know how it came to be there. None of the band members sighed while recording, so I wonder what it was...)

Nile - Unas Slayer of the Gods (The horns in the middle of the songs are what really make this song a favorite of mine. The solo helps a little too)

Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno (My favorite Iced Earth song. It has some of the best lyrics and riffs ever. "Abandon all hope who enter here")

Iron Maiden- Rime Of The Ancient Mariner (Maiden must be mentioned in this list for me. THis is my favorite 10+ minute song by them because of the mellow part of the songs and the feeling that this song evokes]

I could go on and on, but I won't. The reason I didn't choose a Dream Theater song is because I can't choose one, same goes for Porcupine Tree. Also there are way more good Opeth songs than this, but I won't post them all.

Thanks for posting!

Man, "Swim to the Moon" by Between The Buried And Me is such a brilliant song with a great structure, riffs, and a keyboards solo!

Seventh Wonder - Great Escape (30 minute masterpiece)
Edge of Sanity - Crimson (40 minutes of pure bliss)

maudin of the Well - Excerpt from 6,000,000,000,000 Miles Before the First, or, the Revisitation of the Blue Ghost (awesome song, enough said :p) 10:56
Ne Obliviscaris - Every song from Portal of I
Neurosis - Purify (bagpipes for the win) 12:18
Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element (the title of the song is a dead give away for how i feel about this song) 10:10
Porcupine Tree - Time Flies (it totally does when listening to this) 11:41
Storm Corrosion - Ljudet Innan (totally reminds me of the prog rock glory days of the 70s!) 10:20
Tool - Reflection (very mesmerizing, especially when listening to Lateralus from front to back) 11:08
Ulver -Not Saved (the piano is very soothing and relaxing) 10:27

Sorry for the long list, I just love long songs. Makes sense in that regard to have a long list I suppose. :p

Haken's "Visions" is a 22-minute prog masterpiece.

How about Beardfish's "Sleeping in Traffic, Part 2?" - a 35-minute journey. It's really a journey: pay close attention to the lyrics, which are also a whole lot of fun.

How they managed to pull these off still baffles me.

There is your portion of prog epicness for today.

Oh this is cool. Recently I've practically been nonstop Rwake's 'Was only a Dream' on repeat (13 or so minutes). This song is amazing. Instant classic, one of my favorites ever and I only heard it for the first time two weeks ago. Amazing.

Before that I probably would have talked about Opeth or something. They are good at constructing long songs, obviously.

Long songs are an interesting. The time allows for more transformation development and delivery, but at the same, if a band is not careful, it can easily leave a listener bored. It's a delicate balance, which is one reason why Opeth is so impressive for writing so many great long songs. They don't always work. I feel Symphony X's longer compositions, especially the 20+ minute ones, just tend to leave the listener behind. I love Symphony X and sections of Divine Wings and the Odyssey are brilliant, but not as complete songs. There are so many parts that feel like 'parts' instead of cohesive material. Perhaps that is a common issue with prog in general. However, if it's too monotonous, it can leave the listener behind just the same. Striking the perfect balance is just not easy.

Opeth has Ghost of Perdition and Black Water Park
Tarby has Born Cross Eyed and A Turn for the Worse
Dream Theater's Octavarium
Mastodon's The Czar
Porcupine Tree's Somewhere But Not Here
Iron Maiden's Where the Wild Wind Blows
Meatloaf's I'll Do Anything For Love
Watain's Waters of Ain
Cult of Luna's Dark City, Dark Man
Devin Townsend's Project's Might Masturbator
Yoshiki's Blind Dance
Nightwish's Poet and the Pendulum
Savatage's Morphine Child
Led Zepplin's Achille's Last Stand

I'm also going to count Parabola by Tool, because while the tack is only a little more than 6 minutes, if you combine it with the previous track, which is the intro for it and counted together in the music video, it's over 10. I know I also have a few more, but this is what I get off the top of my head as well as cleaning through my favorite's playlist and counting the one's which are actually in my all time favorite songs more than just "a like this quite a bit and want to bookmark it".

Anubis Gate - The End of Millenium Road
Blind Guardian - And Then There Was Silence
Darkwater - Tallest Tree
Dream Theater - Learning To Live
Dream Theater - Scene Six: Home
Dream Theater - Stream of Consciousness
Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno
Iron Maiden - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Iron Maiden - Empire Of The Clouds
Iron Maiden - When The Wild Wind Blows
Iron Mask - Cursed In The Devil's Mill
Opeth - White Cluster
Opeth - Drapery Falls
Opeth - Ghost Of Perdition
Symphony X - Through the Looking Glass
Zero Hour - Demise And Vestige

Those are the ones that come first to mind. Not surprising since these are played by some of my favourite bands.

Honestly I like almost all the longer tracks from Iron Maiden (often prefer them over the shorter tracks) and there are a lot more from Opeth and Dream Theater that I could pick but I tried to keep it at maximum 3 songs per band (and from different albums).

Yeah, why not?

My fave, at the moment, is probably "For El Ahrairah To Cry":

I love the build up, and the samples are fricking well used here.

The Doors - The End
(It may not be metal but it's in my opinion the greatest 10+ minute song ever made)

Iron Maiden - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Empire Of The Clouds
(Of course just like the op says Iron Maiden is a band that needs to be on this list and also they happens to be my favourite band. I've chosen the obvious one but also one from their latest album; the 18-minute epic Empire Of The Clouds. Rime and Empire are among the two greatest 10+ minute songs ever made IMO)

Helloween - Keeper If The Seven Keys, Halloween
(Simply two masterful power metal epics)

Opeth - The Drapery Falls
(Simply beautiful, Opeth at their finest)

Mastodon - The Czar: Usurper/Escape/Martyr/Spiral
(A masterful and strange piece of art)

Pink Floyd - Pigs (Three Different Ones)
(Such an interesting listen. A true masterpiece)
