Both Bands were influenced By Guitarist Bill steer, and were both pioneers of their genres. Napalm Death Is credited with inventing grindcore and are also among the most influntial Death metal acts out there. Carcass, while not the Inventors Death Metal, they were among the first out there, and also incorperated a good amount of grindore influence in their music. Notably, Michel Ammot, Founder of Arch enemy, Is a former member of carcass. So, Let the votes Fly, who do you prefer? (I voted Carcass)

I voted for Carcass because, although I really like Napalm Death's earlier works, they have put out some not so great albums. Carcass was fairly consistent throughout their career, even with the changes in style from album to album.

Yeah... You should say something more since that's what polls are for. To discus and talk about what you like and why.

In my case... I go for Napalm Death. Their music feels always so fresh and brutal. While I never feld a big thing while listeng to Carcass

Yeah... You should say something more since that's what polls are for. To discus and talk about what you like and why.

And uh let me tell you about a little thing called a rhetorical question... It is a figure of speech in the form of a question posed for its persuasive effect without the expectation of a reply.

I just didn't know what else to say... One explanation would be to say that thing you said about Napalm Death, but on the other way around on CARCASS.

Regardless of whether or not your question was supposed to be rhetorical, a constructive post is what we strive for here. So as before mentioned, at least some sort of useful explanation would be apreciated. I know that you just expanded upon your answer, and I thank you for that, but you know, just in general posting around here, keep that in mind.

OK I AM SORRY.
Listed below are the reasons why I like CARCASS. [and now I wonder why I didn't say them the first time]

-CARCASS more or less pioneered the grindcore genre and I love grindcore and their works in the genre (in the early days).
-They shifted to death, which once again is a genre that I love
-And then they moved onto melodic death metal, which once again is a genre that I REALLY love.
-I love their gruesome lyrics and the album covers.
-...

-AND MOST OF ALL I FUCKING LOVE THEIR MUSIC, ALL OF THEIR MUSIC, NO MATTER THE GENRE!

it's a shame they disbanded. and although they got together for a couple of shows and a reunion tour, it's still sad that they might not work together after that... my all-time favorite CARCASS album is Heartwork, and the song: Heartwork

The thing is, when he said that the point is more apllicaple to Napalm Death, he means that ND pretty much invented grindcore. And when he says that ND is also more applicable to a shift into DM, he means just straight forward DM, unike carcass who shifted directly into melodic-Dm.

Had to go with Carcass. Napalm Death is probably the more intense of the two, and really wear their punk influences on their sleeves, but what ND have in intensity, Carcass more than make up for with the tightness of their playing.

This was tough for me at 1st. Carcass has probably had more of an influence on the music world over all. With the bands the members formed I can't say that anyone really squandered their talent. At the same time Napalm Death still has unique staying power, they also have a string of really good albums (Carcass totally does too, I really can't deny that one at all.). I will however say that when it comes to writing I think Napalm Death has more consistancy to style. Following "heartwork" Carcass sorta started turninig into a rock band in a like manner as Entombed did. Following the break up (which I did find to be truly sucky) I can also say that napalm death kept writing consistantly good albums.

Subject matter wise Napalm Death hits more on the level of emotion, social & political wrongs, and shows that out abstractly yet in a manner you can feel. One thing I noticed about Napalm Death is even if you can't fully hear what Barney Greenway was singing the lyrics you thought he said still were empowering. Not to mention their use of distortion is pretty cool with how they wrap their notes into the ear of the listener. As soon as "Fear, Emptyness, Despayre" came out they were damn good like that & have been since then.

Carcass has sorta been all over the place with subject matter. For the grindcore aspect Carcass played better music than Napalm Death did in the beginning. Descanting the Insilubrious was a bunch of medical terms, which I did find brilliant. At the same time I got the album when I was in 7th grade and I needed a dictionary for some of the words. "Tools of the Trade" was damn good too. Then "Heartwork" came out and the sound changed. I can't complain, I thought it was amazing. The melodics were awsome. The problem was that they also started playing down their previous albums. "Swansong" came out and to be honest I figured they were bored. Lord knows I kinda was after a few listens. I liked the album but it was just "okay".

All in all I would go with Napalm Death.

I never really understood Napalm Death at all. They have always seemed horribly overrated. Their grindcore is very noise oriented and feels like it lacks any genuine musical base, and the later stuff just sorta took the exact same route into a new genre. Carcass on the other hand managed to create complex and intelligently structured grindcore (very rare) culminating in what is probably my favourite grindcore album of all time: Symphonies of Sickness. As for Carcass's later albums, they are also great, and show a more significant change in direction than napalm death ever did. The lyrics of both bands are, quite frankly, kinda silly, but if you are going to be silly, I prefer it if you go the whole way rather than pretend they actually mean something, so Carcass takes that one too.

So um . . . yeah. Carcass is great. Napalm death is not. I voted for Carcass.

Since when is Napalm Death metalcore?
And since when is Carcass extreme death metal?
Both bands started off as grindcore and then ND started recording straightforward death metal and have now moved back to grindcore again. Carcass moved to melodic death metal and ending on that horrible low point called Swansong after their grindcore days.
